It's not such an outlandish complaint. In fact it's one complaint that gets leveled at Porsche (and Subaru for that matter) fairly often. If you like the sound fine, but there's no reason to act like a dick about it and pretend that he said the dumbest thing ever.

Lollerballoon. Sorry you feel so passionate about your diesel sounding turbo. I feel like they sound a lot alike and I know I'm not alone. It has been a criticism of the 997 turbo since it was introduced. Have more patience, its good for you.

I'm  not sure it sounds like a diesel, though it does have a unique sound for sure.

At idle maybe, but I have never heard a diesel that sounds like that at full throttle.
