Other than the severe lack of power it had, please educate me why you think so.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

Obviously, you've never driven one.  It had enough get-up-and-go.  Don't pay any attention to the on-paper horsepower figures.  The B230F was tuned for bottom-end grunt and, even with an auto, was plenty quick enough.  (Just ask the cop who pulled over my wife for speeding in our 240!)

Built to last forever, is economical to run, most repairs can be done with a hammer and it has enough interior volume to move the contents of a small house.  And don't forget the understated Scandinavian coolness factor!

Damn right it's the most perfect car ever!

I have to agree with Madman. One of my first cars was a Volvo 240, and they're deceptively quick around town. You do start to notice the lack of power on the highway, though.

But they'll still cruise quite nicely at 75+ all day!

I wonder what auto manufacturers do with all that old tooling.

I read once that the tooling for Cortinas, Consuls, Zephyrs and other such Ford UK products sat in a field for years, if I remember rightly.

Have you seen a USDM 6 yet? How do they compare side-by-side? I think ours is fugly.

The USDM seems much bigger and the proportions are worse.  It's not a big difference, but the JDM looks so so perfect that it's annoying

The Atenza is a liftback while the US 6 is a proper sedan.  Yes, it also looks like they extended the back of the US car a bit, but if you look at the difference between the distance between the rear wheels and the rear bumper, it doesn't appear to be that much longer.  If you look at the last generation car, the shape differences were similar.  Personally, I thought the liftback was the best looking of the previous generation, and that appears to be the case with the 2nd generation as well.  I really hope Mazda US offers 3 bodystyles of the 6 again.
