So what are your favorite rivalries in the car market and on the racetrack?

I'll start with one of mine.

2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

Agree with OP.

Also from a "market position" standpoint you have Ferrari vs Lamborghini.

A classic rival, for sure.

However at this point it seems that the camaro and it's fans(GMI posters) seem content with letting the camaro chase the tired notion of a "muscle car"' with it's porky curb weight and emphasis on power while the mustange(and ford) are truelly trying to become a real sports coupe.

Classical rival for sure, modern day it's the difference between a 370Z and a challenger SRT8.

One gets better gas mileage but one is faster.  Which one shall it be?

So muscle cars are a tired notion, but "real sports coupes" are what, something new?

Smoked it?  It shouldn't have unless the Mustang had a piss poor driver.  They have identical acceleration numbers.

S204STi

Camaro v Mustang is the best I'd say.  Corvette vs 911 was not even a close one until Corvettes got fast in the 90s.  My personal favorite though is the rally rockets.
