Chevy Aveo RS!

Here are the first leaked shots of the forthcoming preproduction/concept Aveo RS. I like the proportions. Not too sure about the face. I like how they took the motorcycle-inspired gauges but logically flipped the tach and speedo. Now you have an analog tachometer and a digital speedo.



Looks to be copied out of a book or magazine, so thus the perspective seems a bit warped.

Looks to be a serious competitor to the Fiesta and Fit.

Please, enlighten us. What should a small car look like? One that has to maximize it's is space in such a small space constraint?

I like it. The headlights, for example, are way better than the 2 foot long peepers on the competition. Some interesting angles on the back end too.

The auto manufacturers are going to have to hit those tough cafe standards somehow. The fleet average may be high, but the average purchased is likely to remain low(er). Just goes to show how the environmental regulations are screwy. The Europeans drive low emissions, small cars for one reason: gas is very expensive. We won't follow suit until we too have very expensive gas.

Also, small cars are no longer small. They often best midsize and compacts of not too long ago.

Whats up with the Audi-esque front?  Either way, I think it looks awesome and just a little mean.  Since "RS" is plastered on the back I'm crossing my fingers for 150/160 hp.  That would make this thing a hoot I bet.

Yeah, if the production car gets that engine, which remains an unknown.

Trust me, there will be no mistaking this for anything as remotely exciting as a motorcycle, no matter what gauges they stick in there.  Not a bad looking car though. Hopefully it's built more nicely than the current Aveo/G3.

Hey now. A car like the Honda Fit is perfect for a young urbanite couple in a major city. These cars won't do CamCord numbers but I think they will sell.

I do think a few will not sell well (Mitsu Colt, Fiat 500... weak dealership networks). But a few of these (Fit, Swift, Mazda2) have the promise of providing fun + practicality on the cheap, without the worries or expenses of a nicer similarly priced used car.

This Aveo should be damn quick with that motor though. And it's turbocharged. It will definitely be a hit among the tuners. I just hope it is cheaper + has better gas mileage than a Cruze/Cobalt.
