True. From the admittedly limited amount I know about the details of Canada's legal system on a national level, I doubt it would fly there either. What I don't doubt is that politicians from both countries would be willing to test it at some point. They're the same in every country. 

We need to throw a whole bunch of them out in the next election.  That will capture their attention.
