Have you seen the updated Santa Fe?  The interior looks better than the outgoing model, as does the exterior.

Actually, they look almost identical to the previous interior and exterior.

I was impressed with the one I drove. It doesn't feel truck-based and has lots of space for an SUV. At $20k they'd fly off the lots if anyone had heard of them, but they've been there for months.

Looks real good.  The 4.0 is a nice engine.  I had one in my '93 Aerostar.

Not if you like getting good mileage. Although, that new Explorer probably has the SOHC version, which gets a bit better mileage.

I have the OHV, and you don't wanna know what the mileage is.

My dad has the same engine in his truck ('00 Mazda B4000 4x4 5-speed).  It's pretty appalling around town, but I've gotten 20 mpg  before (long highway slog, cruise set at 71 mph).

Well, lucky you.

The Mazda/Ranger is 600 lbs lighter, too. I bet I could get at least 18 mpg hwy on a flat section of freeway with no wind. I haven't had it in those conditions yet.

I saw one going for 11k off around where I live.

I think most of Kia's lineup is pretty trashy, but the Borrego is actually really, really nice (I never drove one, only checked out it's interior/cargo room/etc) It's a shame it isn't selling better.

It's a shame that Kia picked quite possibly the worst summer (2008) in American history to introduce it, too.

The 4.0 actually has a nice throaty growl to it under hard acceleration.  It's almost whisper quiet while cruising.  Thanks for asking.  :ohyeah:

No.  It's a carryover from the Tesla thread.  Though I have driven the 4.0 recently to make sure we wanted an Explorer.

V8s are really hard to find at a reasonable price.

A Borrego really does sound like the better option, rather than a used Sploder. The Borrego V6 has 276 hp, and the V8 has 337, wow!

Borregos had V8s?

They have them, and with 10-year, 100,000 mile warranties.
And with the Ifcar discount, a brand new 4wd V8 Borrego is only a couple thousand more than an old V6 Exploder.

As a Canadian citizen with a Canadian address, I cannot buy a brand new vehicle in the US.  The manufacturers do not allow it.  So I will use the Build It price from Kia.ca.  To get a Borrego with the V6, leather, and a sunroof it stickers at $43,295.  In V8 trim it's $46,145.  The used Explorer is $24,000 cheaper.

It's Canadian money! LOLOL
Which is virtually on par with the US dollar.  I just went to kia.com and built a V6 with leather and a sunroof and it came to over $36,000.  So even if they are giving $7000 off, it's still $10,000 more then the Explorer and I still can't buy it because the manufacturers won't allow US dealers to sell new cars to Canadians.

I went back to kia.ca and realized that the Borrego only comes with leather and a sunroof in Canada, so I built it again and it came to $39,145 for the V6.
