Toyota rebadge alert!

Awesomely capable and plush SUV...looks ugly, but it is just as useful as it is ugly.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

I think i reconvinced myself that on paper the X3 wins with the cargo/size, handling, power/mileage, and AWD system (never knew in the XDrive system if you turn off the DSC button in locks the center diff to 60/40 split)... in CPO form not too bad of price either

the X1 looks so much nicer but still a year away at least

I would say that is more a necessity then an asset. Without the DSC the XDrive system is blind and can not tell what the ideal torque split should be. DSC also takes over the role of a differential lock by braking a spinning wheel.

r0tor

on the newer XDrive when you disengage the DSC it goes into a full time 60/40 split and then engages "DTC" or Dynamic Traction Control which still allows the abs system to act like an electronic LSD

I think you wouldn?t regret the X3. It doesn?t seem very popular here but it?s very fun to drive for the segment, has reasonable fuel economy and space. Just be sure to get an LCI (post facelift model) and to not mind when the new one comes out in 10 months. You should be able to get a very good deal on a new one.

Come on r0tor.  You're the one who wants the SUV.  Ditch the RX-8 and get what you really want...an Expedition MAX.

He'd have to move to Canada for that, or buy an Expedition EL.

They break a lot.

Based on what experience you have with the Touareg?  Did you back one out of a garage once?

I work a mile down the road from a VW dealer. I talk to a lot of owners of various cars. The only car I've heard of from VW that's consistently had problems was the Tow-rag.
