Will you ever buy a Toyota?

I probably wouldn't have bought one anyway, with the exceptions of the MR2, Supra, Celica (at least the GT-S), Tacoma, 4Runner, LC and FJ Cruiser.

That's a lot of exceptions.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

So sad for you. There have been a bunch of fun Toyotas built over the years. I'd own any nunmber of them (and had a couple), and since we have no idea what they might build in the future, I'm not going to say never to a possible new one.

My dad had one of those - 1974 or 1975 GT, in that '70s brown.  It was quite the fun car compared to the '72 Olds Delta 88 that it replaced.  I've seen photos of his, and a few different ones in person, I'd love to have one.

I'd also add the Supra (particularly the Mark III and Mark IV) to the list of desirable Toyotas.  A bit heavy, but beautiful and fun cars.  I want one badly.

So that's what it was :banghead:.

I was watching You Only Live Twice, an old Bond film, the other week and was impressed by the car that was driven by a Japanese Bond girl; but I couldn't place it.  It was a Toyota 2000 GT, though it was topless.  It sounded really nice.

Yup. A rare version of an already rare car:

Besides the headlights, that's one cool looking car.  I would have said Ferrari or Jaguar if it weren't for those lights.

Somehow I read the title as new Toyotas. I would get an RA4X Celica notchback in a heartbeat. Or a 5 speed all trac Camry + a 3SGTE swap. But their current lineup blows, and as long as people keep buying the bboring cars they'll have no reason to offer more

When you consider how many cars they've made in the last 20 years or so, I don't think that list constitutes all that many cars.

That's like half the lineup from 1980-2000!

I've never owned a Toyota and, given their habit of making hopelessly vanilla cars, it is unlikely I ever will.  I'm not saying I would never own one.  Who knows, maybe someday they will make a car that isn't a cure for insomnia?

I won't say never, but it is pretty unlikely I'll ever buy one.

And yet you own Volvos which are boring and Vanilla. Safe, but rather boring overall.

And yes, there are exceptions. Just like Toyota.

That's how I took the title initially. They had a lot of stuff in the past I'd definitely drive. Hopefully in the years to come they embrace a bit of sporting nature again. ( or a lot. ) Currently I just prefer the truck offerings.

It's odd, Toyota has fun cars, but they aren't sold here.

IIRC, it's the most powerful FWD production car of all time. 323 HP.

Sure I would.  If they keep building bread and butter boring Grandma cars, though, no, I won't.  At least not until I'm older like EtypeJohn.  Of course, by then, they'll be building cars that can float in the air and run on flux capacitors that give infinite fuel mileage, thus putting oil companies out of business.

Oh, and I'll also buy Obama 2056 stickers by then.

Have to convert from SAE gross to whatever the Aurion is measured under but...

500 cid, 400 hp, and 550 lb ft of torque. And apparently underrated.

Yeah, I LOL at that name every time.

Inital reviews say that it doesn't really torque steer despite having that motor.

Oh fuck you. It's a legitimate thread and if you don't like it, then go create your own 'real' topic. I know you hate me and I really don't know what is bothering you in your life, but you're the biggest whiny, negative, depressed bitch on Carspin.

So you can fuck off and create a cool thread on your own.

I thought that was me.

I'll take any of the cars ChrisV posted. Other than that, as of right now I don't want a Toyota.

JWC

I checked out and seriously considered buying a Toyota 2000GT back in the late seventies or early eighties.  I decided against the purchase because $7999.00 was too much for a used Toyota.   (I also decided against buying a Triumph Stag--in 1985--for $500.00 that only needed a left rear hub and bearing.)

Oh...what could have been.

An Auris with a 3.5l V6?  Is it still FWD?  Must handle like shit.

Focus has 300HP, and is FWD. Mazdaspeed 3 has 275HP and is FWD.

From what I gather, Toyota motors are very light.

It probably doesn't handle that well, but 270HP in a compact hatch should be entertaining.

The Pirate:  Stretch this 'Yota a foot in length.  Widen it eight inches or so.  Remove the inner pair of headlights and paint the bumpers, mirrors, door handles with paint of the same color as the rest of the car.

Voila!  You have a 2010 Camaro.
