1994 850 Turbo

So...put a new TD04HL 15G on.  The car was transformed!  Pulls so much better.  Just took it on a 1500 mile roadtrip and had no faults other than the trunk latch breaking.  Found out that the trunk latch is pretty solidly built since we had to GRIND IT OFF.  I got home and it lost all of its coolant.  I didn't put new crush washers on the coolant/oil lines, so that's where it was leaking from.

Good stuff man

Is this the model for which they only made like 5 manual versions?

*EDIT* Also props to you for being a decent mechanic before the age of 18... I could barely drive, let alone turn a wrench

CJ

There were no turbo manual cars in the US.  Only the 1998-2000 S/V70 got a manual transmission, and there were VERY few.  I think there were 5 2000 V70's with the manual.  It's something like that.

My grandma has the same car, and I really like it. For the power it makes, I thought it would pull a little harder than it does. I think it really shines when you're up to speed. 50-70 runs feel much better than 0-30. Other than that, it's always been one of my favorite cars: great cruiser, feels well put together, the fit and finish are excellent, and it's just an all-around comfortable car. I'm a little on the large end of the size scale--always feel about 3 inches too tall when I'm driving it, but honestly I'd put up with that to own one, I like it so much.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

So....my 850 IS up for sale, but only to one person.  He's gotta sell his Wagovan, then he'll buy my 850 from me.  I'm looking at buying a 1990 760 Turbo wagon.

Thank goodness. Your current car has been a money trap.

Should've just bought Nick's turbo brick when you had the chance.

Volvo has always scored fairly well with Consumer Reports, having several recommendations right now.

With that said, it's been pretty good.  I've put almost 12,000 miles on it since May, so it's doing pretty good.

Strong through the 90s, then consistently weak for most of the last decade, now varying by model.

Ford did them in, especially with their electronic throttle.

This commercial has been running on German TV for weeks now. It's kind of funny actually (one of the better commercials that stands out). I think it's pretty self-explanatory.

but hopefully your cars would be getting newer instead of older. This girl on this other forum I frequent paid cash for her first car, which was some 1990's Honda, then saved up enough cash to buy a new Maxima outright in 2000, and again saved up enough cash to buy an almost-new 2008 Highlander, also outright.

If I had the discipline to do something like that, I'd probably have a similar sequence of cars I've had in actuality, but without the burden of making car payments every month.

Why?

I mean, I like Volvo, at least the RWD ones. The 145 I had was a rad car, even if it was rusty, old, and falling apart. But this is some ridiculous brand loyalty.
