Austin to be precise. Starting with the 2012 season. They will build an entirely new race track. Texas is not the first place that comes to mind regarding F1.

2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

The Monticello Motor Club from New York also says it is negotiating with Bernie. Monticello is a great place but they have no facilities for spectators. That does not mean that this disqualifies them. Several years ago Bernie suggested a TV only GP.

Oh God I hope this shit is true. I'm fucking excited, Austin is only 2-3 hours away from me and the Indy track is pathetic. Please, I hope they seal the deal because I'll get to see a Formula 1 race in person for many years to come.

Ahh fuck, I don't pray, but I'm praying it comes to Austin, TX.
You see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?!!

Oh shit, I'm fucking stoked!! Galaxy, if you want a place to sleep and some local tours for free then let me know in 2012. You may be on the floor or an air mattress, but free. HAHAHAHA, what a great day.

Austin is a great place for a track. Plenty of hills, rivers, and lakes. I've got to go research where they are putting this thing. I know the area pretty damn well having visited/partied there many times with friends that live there.

Edit: Forgot to include it's a great city, welcoming, fun, and an entertaining night life. A younger crowd(sort of college city), but would be perfect. Well established in large festivities too.

I want F1 at Watkins Glen.

Well it could be some bullshit F1 politics, but apparently it is down the road from me. I'll spare no expense every year in going to that race.

That's cool. Austin's a great town. My dad spent a large amount of his childhood there and both my parents went to UTexas. I think my dad and I are going to try to make it to a UT football game this fall.

Welcome back to the 1970s. My dad and mom had their honeymoon at the American Grand Prix over there, I believe...or maybe it was the Canadian Grand Prix. Anyway, I know they went to both back in the day.

It's kind of like soccer fans or worldcup fans in the US. Just enough few....hmmmm, how do I say it......cultured people here. Nascar and the like are more American/Redneck centric soap opera's for beer gut males.

That's not terribly accurate, but I don't really know how to put it.

We've sold out the American Grand Prix every time we've had one. There's not a huge F1 fanbase in the US, but it sure is an intense one.

The big question which nobody has answered is where is the money to build a new circuit coming from?

I can only assume that the property on which the circuit is going to be built has already been bought because if they want to be ready by 2012 they need to be breaking ground NOW!  Knowing what a wild-ass rumour mill Formula One can be, I'll will only believe it when I see the cars take to the starting grid.

This has been public knowledge for some months.  Austin is the perfect location in Texas.  180 miles from Houston, about 200 from Dallas/Ft. Worth, 50 or so  miles North of San Antonio.  That puts a huge number of people with money within an easy day's drive of the event.

Plus while the Texas economy isn't as wonderful as Rick Perry would have you believe it's better off than many places where GP's have been held before (Detroit, Las Vegas, LA area).  I suspect Austin will do very well until Bernie tries to screw with the local supporters and promoters.  From what I've seen there is a 10 year commitment on behalf of F1 to have a race in Austin.

Their website shopws a lot of money involved and areal photos show it near Bergstrom Air Force base (yeah I know the Air Force abandoned it years ago).

Finally another F1 track with some actual elevation change... So many of their tracks have become flat and boring
