Does the 300TT really needs mods to freewheel, certainly most Sylvia models are not that powerful, the ones in the video are putting out some power.

If balance is so important, is drifting full of miata's? They are another well-balanced not very powerful car.

From my time in Japan I saw very few rwd cars to choose from, certainly the sylvias were more abundant and no doubt cheaper than most.  I would imagine 20 yr old miata's can be had relatively cheap at this point.

Wheelbase plays an important part in drifting, and it's better to err on the long side than the short. That is why a car like a GS300 can be made into a successful drift car. Miatas are crazy short, which is great for general responsiveness but bad for the kind of smooth transitioning needed to complete successful drifts.

Just for comparison:

Model: Length/wheelbase
NA Miata: 155/89
AE86: 165/94.5
S13 240SX: 178/97
X80 Mark II: 183/105

Etc.

Seems like the AE86 is at the bottom end of length/wheelbase for a good drift car. I think width plays a part too... a car is more likely to swing around its outside front wheel if the car is narrower (physical explanation may be when the car is transitioning from understeer to oversteer, a narrower front track gives the rear of the car a greater moment arm around the car's center of gravity). That is why cars like the super wide Zs don't make for great drifters.... too stable

People lust after 240s because they're better drift cars.  A lot lighter than a 300ZXTT and most don't have HICAS (IIRC, all ZXTTs had HICAS).  There's also more room under the hood so they're easier to work on.

Not to mention the S13-15 in 240/Silvia guise parts are all pretty much interchangeable so parts availability borders on ridiculous

You know when I really fell in love with the 300ZX?  Kill Bill.  Lucy Liu's right hand bitch drove a pristine blue 300ZX.  It looked factory new, and I was just smitten.  I'll choose that one.  I'll check Autotrader when I'm off work....

Don't sell it!

BTW that's probably the cleanest car I've seen on craigslist, especially for one that's modified and that old.

Don't worry, I'm not getting much action on it.

I'm sure I'll be "stuck" with it for awhile.

Doesn't bother me one bit.

Thanks for the compliments.

I like seeing a car that the interior has been kept up nice. People just don't take care of shit these days.

Do both radios work?  That's a selling point you failed to mention.

Both radios?

It's am/fm cassette(standard early 90's nissan fare) with a in dash 6 disc above it. I didn't know they were failure prone. Everything works perfect in the car.

Ah, didn't catch that the CD player was a changer.  I saw 1-6 and assumed they were for radio presets (which were also on the cassette/radio unit below), leading me to believe the CD player was an aftermarket AM/FM/CD headunit.

No problem, It is always a bit confusing since it seems to be installed the opposite of what most would think.

Recalling japanese double din cars from the period, the optional cd player din was always placed below the am/fm cassete unit. From what I've seen in honda's and others.

It looks odd, and i've thought of(in fact i may have) reversing them. I believe the CD's hit the shifter if mounted in the lower slot.

I was thinking more of the 2500 dollar brake kit when I wrote that comment.

The rims were supposed to be temporary, since the stockers had tires showing cords and I needed something that would cover the larger brake kit.

The rims I ordered from tire rack were not going to be availabe for six months.

I've been putting off the wheel and tire purchase for awhile.

Nothing is really lighting my fire, the closest I found were some OZ ultralegra's with Sport cups on them. That kit was around 4 grand IIRC.

Yeah that's a great deal on a well maintained clean 96TT.  Sad to see you are selling it.  It will definitely be a sought after car in a while.  It's so rare to see a 96.  I'm surprised you aren't getting more interest.  Maybe it's because of your location?

I have all the stock parts, it could be "put back" in a short day.

Just looking to get something different. The reality is that it's paid for, and costs me nothing more than insurance. While I like the cars and would love to always own one, there is only so many cars I can drive at one time.
