That doesn't qualify as relatively quick anymore.

I'm sure 7.2 seconds is fine for my mom. how quick is an 04 suburban?

They're going to basically give it to my brother since they don't want to buy another car, used or not.

Suburban is probably in the mid-8s. It is quick relative to older vehicles, but is pretty average compared to current vehicles. Average is plenty good enough these days imho.

BENZ BOY15

I like the Suburban's engine...works fine for what it is. The Pilot's engine is pretty nice as well....the Accord is kinda weak however.

BENZ BOY15

I have a 2007 accord SE with a 4cyl. It's alright, but I love
the V6!

That it's safe, easier to maneuver than her current ride, it shouldn't be ostentatious...and well, that's about it.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

No, they just tie the horse to the bumper and strap the hooves to four skateboards.

Is that a joke?  There are no rollerskates designed for horses.

sometimes, but someone else usually does it. Basically we really do enough cargo space foe horse related items.

UPDATE: I talk to my Dad on the phone and say we should go look at the XC90 when I move down there for the rest of the quarter (kill me now).

His response was not what I wanted to hear. He was driving around with my brother, who just got his permit. Well he stopped by the Volvo dealership and looked at the XC90. He didn't drive it (that's pushing it), but he did sit in it and talk with the guy.

He actually really liked it....but "the thought of spending $40,000-$50,000 on an automobile is just too much for me to handle right now. I have better things to spend the money on. Maybe around the holidays I'll consider it....but not now Benz and if I hear one more fucking word about it, I'll kill you."

Oh well. I tried!

....which is when I get smacked across the face.

You don't get it.....any more asking on my part will do two things: 1) He'll get pissed and go off on me and 2) He'll postpone the purchase longer.

Something radical has to happen.....like the engine of the Suburban has to blow up on the freeway. Which is actually when we replaced the 96' Ho'.

But there are some issues at his work, a lawsuit with neighbors in central california who are blocking off the well illegally, my health problems (although I'm a lot better) on top of the 89,249 things he's worried about anyway.

So ya, it'll be a month or two...most likely.

Pour some of that silica stuff (the stuff used to destroy the Cash-for-Clunkers engines) into the engine of the Suburban.  I'm sure you can find a dealer who still has some of that stuff still sitting on a shelf somewhere.  Sit back and wait for the KABOOM!

Next thing you know........Hey, presto, we got a new XC90!  :ohyeah:

He'll probably go buy a used Suburban if that happens.

FWIW, I like his dad.

I like my Dad too....a little too serious and intense at times, though. Actually, he hates the Suburban. I would LOVE to get a new Suburban more than anything else.....he'll probably look at one just for the sake of it.

Hopefully he'll like it. It's a much better automobile than the 2004 one and (I would hope) it gets better gas millage? Then again, most cars get better than 12MPG.

Or an Ecoboost Flex.

We love horses and would never sell them.....so that ain't an option. We're also building a vacation house, so that may also be why Dad doesn't want to buy right now.

Colin

I just arrived in Phoenix and went to the rental car centre to collect the latest car, and was somewhat surprised to find that although I'd reserved a Group C (mid-sized, sample car = Nissan Sentra), there was an '11 Suburban allocated to me. When the only alternatives they could offer me were an Explorer or a Prius (both of which I have driven before), I decided to take the Chevy.

So, I'll let you know what I think of it......... there will be a full Colin-style Road Test in due course.

"Lucked" was not the verb that came to mind when I saw it!

Sadly the only 2 x Camaro that they had on site were both allocated to other renters.

I love the new Suburban. It's so....nice. I love driving ours but the interior is really cheap, the electronic system is bad and it just seems to age a lot worse than our Hondas. It doesn't seem to be built that well. It's comfortable, can hold a lot of stuff and can go off road. It's just a big ass SUV with no other redeeming qualities except for the ones mentioned.

The new one feels smaller in on the inside and not as monster-like.

Let me know! And take some pictures.

68_427

What about the Expedition?  Those should be receiving the new engines soon.  The King Ranch fits the horse motif thing.

I like the Suburban better and that's what my Dad would get if we got a full size SUV....he doesn't like change too much. We've basically had Chevy SUVs and Hondas the entire time I've been alive.
