I'm not a believer in car investments. Too many cars in the world to hold onto to one just because it might be valuable in the future. If there's a different car that you want in a few years, might as well get it

Cars are terrible investments. I can understand not wanting to lose your ass on resale value, but they are for entertainment first and foremost.

This is the second TARDIS reference I've read today, unless you read the TTAC review of the Camaro......

I don't think my demands are too high, at least anymore. An E90 is the same size as the Civic.... I could probably settle for a 335i at this point, if it can fit an infant seat behind my wife.

How much room does an infant take up anyways? They're tiny! I think a MX-5 trunk could fit four babies if you packed them in nice and tight.

What the fuck. People are getting 186 WHP out of these motors with a longtube header and tuning (not sure if intake is changed, probably is though).

You doubt the glory of MIATA??????

CaminoRacer

The tune just turns off the rev limiter. They dyno it, rev it to 15k rpm to get their 186 hp, and then toss the engine out.

I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want a Miata.

That white one I was considering turns out to be automatic. But comes with real rollbar pre-installed and an extra set of tires. I could ALMOST forgive that but.

Wife got me all excited then cooled off after I was going to go look at that one. Then changed her mind and wanted to skip work to go look but it was too late in the day. I bought a car in the dark way back when and that was a bad mistake. (83 CRX. Probably hail damage, the paint was spotted all over and looks like they used a "close enough" silver to patch it...)

Sigh. I'd like to say I'll get one when tax refund is here but sorta committed that to savings. I'd like to say when my son leaves the house, but then child support goes up $200/month. I imagine prices will go up as we get into the spring/summer so I'm not real hopeful for this year. Sigh.

Aim for October?

I'm holding off until next January. I should have graduated by then and should have a very different financial situation.

What? No. A rollbar and extra set of tires is not worth getting a fucking automatic over.

I know, which is also why I didn't go look at it.. After that first waffling I thought about it more and was going to try to go this weekend but looked at the ad again and saw the auto. Nevermind!

Part of it is that I know we're fine to drop $2-4k on a car. I'm in a better financial situation now than ever before in my life, and prospects are super high that they'll stay that way. I'm close to Army retirement, I could stay in or go get another job, we have money saved up we could pay cash on an Impreza right now, but we need to figure out more retirement planning. But Also I don't want to wait forever for fun stuff.

Wife gets anxious about money though. She gets almost-panic attacks once in a while when we talk about buying things, even just going on vacation. Supposedly there's some evening financial class coming up that we will go to, maybe once we have a solid plan on paper she can relax and go with it........

That article is great. I have a lot more understanding of how how different engine mods stack up against each other.

I will have to read it all later, but which one is the best? Turbo Hayabusa engine?

Don't think I've heard of this swap being done before

Makes me wonder what the Miata would have been like had Mazda used the 1.8L V6 from the MX-3 or the 2.5L from the MX-6.

That's what I want.

But I can't decide if it would be better to just build a FFR Cobra. I need to test drive a Miata. How easy is it to drive a ND at a dealer?

Those engines were fantastic... sounded great, nice power and, incredibly smokth.   I believe in JDM form back in the mid 90s the KLZE 2.5L made 200 HP stock and responded pretty well mods for more power.

Biggest stumbling block is probably they were only produced for transverse layouts so mounting up a trans and engine mounts would be a bitch.
