Nein!

Too common

Well atleast it wouldn't be a Volvo.  There is a guy in my neck of the woods that has a maroon 300TD.  I would trade him my 300SD in a heartbeat if I could

Yeah getting something towing mirrors is a must.  If you get a car like that Wimmer will go to Norway to hump you.

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

I agree with 68_427 - classic Chrysler and those Oldsmobile Delta 88s are the way to go for a replacement. Or a 1981 Ford LTD Crown Victoria Coupe/Sedan/Wagon.

And if you really want something stylish and cool-looking - Dodge St. Regis.

Go try and find something pre-1968 so you can enjoy the simplicity of pure mechanical non-emissions automotive goodness.

Up to '71-72 is non-molested, isn't it? Or even then, it's very limited.

You're looking at smog pumps on some of those. Easily removable if you're not worried about concourse level perfection.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Anything from 68-69 on up usually has a more complicated carburetor too due to emissions. Nothing keeps you from throwing a $50 non-emissions old Edelbrock on there or whatever though.

Likely the distributor will be recurved for emissions, the timing will be different, the cam profiles will be different as will carburation.  Also I would expect to see an EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system installed.  it's also possible that compression may have been lowered a tad.
