No..... that particular dealer does that for EVERY customer.

I didn't see a single demo car on the lot.....they'll happily show you cars in the showroom, but actually driving ones is a different story; nearly none of them wanted to go out back and hunt for a manual transmission Hyundai.

If they know you aren't going to buy one, nor are you in any position to buy one, I can't see why that's unreasonable on their part. Why should they expend the effort on bringing a car out of a crowded lot for some kid, with no intent to buy, to drive?

We can't all be rolling around in cars like yours. If we could, no one would care about "shit cars."

 That don't change nothin'

This new Accent does look pretty good. Hyundai has been doing incredibly well lately.

SVT666

I just don't like how they purposely made the center stack so...warped.

This is an Elantra, not an Accent.

I was so determined; I was talking about financing numbers and trade-ins.

All of them did....seriously.

The only thing stopping me was insurance, or age.

Also, I halfway was serious about getting another car.....until reality set in.

2o6

One dealer did figure me out, (Lambert GMC/Buick - Dodge Caliber) and that test drive ended up being super short, and the guy was a bit irritated.

CJ

It's their job to sell cars.  I only go to dealer when it's clear that they're not busy, and I ask if they have the time to let me drive something.

Almost, but salesman said since I only have liability insurance, I can't test drive any of their cars.

I have never been asked if I have insurance before test driving a vehicle and prior to buying my Mazda, I only had liability on my 240SX.

I hear you, man. I tried to get a spin in a 911 GT3 the other day. I even told them about my Swiss bank accounts and the multi-billion dollar hedge fund I manage. The fuckers just didn't believe me! Assholes.

Since next week is my break, I think I'm going to show up in my Saturn and ask to drive the Spyker sitting in the showroom down the street.

Should be easy, right?
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

LOL at 206 and his unreasonable expectations.

I admire the fact that you're willing to walk in to try to get a test drive but I don't see why you're bitching when they refuse to let you drive one.

The only time I've test driven cars were when my parents were there. I want to try test driving a Mazda2 though.

It kinda sucked the wind out of my sails, I mean, Hyundai? I could get in at VW and Cadillac, but Hyundai turns me down?

I'm going to try another Hyundai dealership.

That particular dealer chain does this. It had more to do with the fact that I probably showed up in a beat-up Neon. It sucks, though. He was about to grab the keys.

There's a big difference between a Porsche 911, and a Hyundai Elantra.

Besides, I KNOW you've done the same thing; you've posted how you've test driven new cars really recently.

Lets face it, If I DID have the money, I'm not going to sign over $$$ and not have a clue how the car drives.

I fail to see how insurance would matter since insurance goes with the car, not the driver.  Hence how I can have collision coverage on one of my cars and not the other.  If the insurance were to follow me and not the car, anything I drive would have the same coverage.

I drove a Honda CR-Z, I was successful. No one said you shouldn't lie, but when you get caught in a lie and subsequently denied a test drive, don't cry about it.

It's hideous. Mind you, I detest the current model too, so if anything Hyundai has remained consistent.

Xer0

I was reading through Inside Line's long term intro to their Cruze and couldn't help but think about how badly this Hyundai is going to destroy it.  Its way lighter, gets better fuel economy without stupid gimicks, faster, looks better, far cheaper (IL's Cruze was 26.5k!), and both will probably be equally boring to drive.
