Opel also uses TIS, I thought it was a GM wide system. Perhaps it is only GM Europe.

The module matching is done as a theft deterrent. You can't just buy a component off Ebay.

GM here doesn't use TIS, just the tech2
"On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high." - Ayrton Senna

Nope.  Only the "value edition" and later the "Sport" or whatever were available with a stick.

Eh, it's too big for me. It lacked value when new also. The TSX could be had for approximately the same price, and if I am forced to go FWD I would go with the TSX.

GM uses TIS worldwide, but they're separate systems. i.e. the North American TIS can't be used to get verification numbers for an Opel. As far as I know Saab's is separate, being that they were a separate company.

Hold on, the Saturn Astra and first year Buick Regal were both Opels (and built in Europe, no less) so wouldn't North American GM dealers have access to the Opel/Saab TIS system, too?
