Factory Five is teaming up with Grassroots Motorsports Magazine to run a public design contest. The goal for the this as-yet unamed sports car will be to feature the WRX running car and weigh in at just 1,800 pounds. It will have a removable top, 95-inch wheelbase and the Subie engine will power the rear wheels.

Stay tuned for more details on this crowdsourced design contest as they emerge. Submissions will be accepted beginning March 1, so the official contest rules should be along shortly. Thanks to everyone for the tips!

Sweet baby Jeebus, the kit will cost $9900. I just emailed Factory Five telling them to do a Stratos replica. If anyone agrees with me, send them a quick email and promote the Stratos. Do we really want some abortion designed by some kid in Buttfuck Montana?

Name only. Hawk cars of the UK already builds one. The guy that built the silver car above with Pinninfarina owns the name "Stratos". Factory Five can call it the "Group 4" or something like that. If you look at all FFR's literature, nowhere is the name "Cobra" found. They call it the MkIII and MkIV.

Eh.  I'm sure it isn't the route they want to go though.  An 037 or Stratos would be cool though.

I'm thinking Porsche 550 Spyder replica.  That way the flat-4 soundtrack would be somewhat fitting.
