When did the Prius launch an automated parking system? I must have missed that.

Launched with the latest generation in 2009.

Hypocrisy at its best.  You think the turbo motor in the Cruze is great, but you could only criticize Ford for doing it less than a year ago:

Never said the Cruze motor was "great" - merely that the whole of the car itself IMO will be a bigger sales success because overall it fulfills the needs of the segment better. Also betcha the Cruze turbo will overall be a less costly item to repair/replace than the Focus DSG.

That particular comment that you stalker'd from almost a year ago was in the context of a $45k twin turbo hi-po car (far more expensive to repair/replace than a lo-po turbo like in the Cruze).

Turbos are cheap and it doesn't matter if it is an SHO or a Cruze.

The only reason the Cruze may outsell the Focus is on price alone.  Because the Focus is much more car than the Cruze.

The SHO's "hi-po" motor is only making 6 hp/L more output than the Cruze's "lo-po" turbo motor.  I don't think either is appreciably more stressed than the other.

My point then was repair/replacement of the turbo(s) and related HW not strain on the motor, and my point now is the Ecoboost has two turbos.

Nah, research dealer costs for turbo replacement on anything from a 9-3 to an A4 to a WRX. It's about the same cost as replacing a transmission (~$3k).

The Focus ain't any more car and it costs more and is a bit daring in styling - recipe for not making big inroads segment. The Cruze is simply a better car for the segment.

Turbo replacement on my old 850 Turbo from Volvo of Dallas was quoted at around $1000 with a brand new turbo.

Do your research.

Cougs, I can buy an entire turbo kit for my SVT that includes every single last piece I will need including the intercooler, all the piping, the turbo, larger injectors, the custom tune, etc. for under $3000.  If it costs more than $1200 for a turbo replacement I would be very very surprised since a turbo all by itself is only about $800.

I usually hear $2k.

Cheaper if you go outside the dealership.

I just had a Cruze as a rental for 4 days, and I was pretty impressed.  It's a nice little car, surprising amount of pickup for such a small engine (mine had the 1.8), and lots of thoughtful little touches inside.  For example, in the back seat there were small cutouts for the seat belt buckle to rest in when not being used.  The stereo also sounded surprisingly good for the entry-level model.

It reminded me of a smaller version of the Malibu rental I had a year ago: nice car, attractive styling, not sporty at all.  Sort of an American Corolla, though the Cruze was nicer and better looking than any Corolla I've ridden in.
