35K is such an odd number....not enough to get deep into luxury makes, but more than the plebeian cars.

Focus ST?

It used to be right in the heart of 330i/Catera/awesome anything territory. Inflation is a whore.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

If I wasn't driving its successor every day, then I would totally have forgotten that the Catera ever existed. The CTS starts at $35k and change; theres no comparison to what that same money would buy you at a Caddy dealer 10 years ago. I'd say it's more progress than inflation.

If not, Golf R or Focus ST would be my pics.

Doubt it, and AWD is the least preferable layout.  Otherwise I'd suggest the WRX, but neither are going to get the mileage numbers he's looking for.

Just don't get a Camaro.  For the love of all things holy, don't get a Camaro.

I'd go for a TSX.

Too hideous.  And if the first generation wasn't as good as my car, no way the second one would be.

Loaded C30 with a Stick.

Worst suggestion ever!  More expensive than my current car, worse, and Chinese!  Cool cars, but I'd never buy one, unless they become insane deals on the used market.

Oh my yes.  This man has a great suggestion.  It's definitely on the expensive side, but it might be a good car to play hardball on.

Motherfucker you better go used, cop that G37 or 335i. Stop playing around with this new car bullshit. Lol @ a new 128i man cmon be serious.

If I'm gonna spend $30 large on a whip I'd be god damned if it couldn't do the quarter in the 14s

*EDIT* In retrospect the 128i is a low 14 second car.... quick enough, def worth checking out + fitting w/your purist bachelor lifestyle.

I think if I were a single young professional man, out to impress the ladies, I would be looking at an off-lease and under 20,000 miles 335 convertible.

Off lease they are about $38k, but you could easily negotiate for $35 in this market.

Plus, you get the remainder of the five years and a reset of 50k miles on the warranty.

No oil changes or other mechanical repairs for three years?  Easy sell, really.

$35K... that's a lot of fcuking money man. Car wise. Why is newness a requirement?

$35K?

S2000 & random sedan of your choice. Something tells me you'd love a Kizashi.

Nah, I wouldn't buy a Kizashi.  I'm not buying a too big Suzuki that looks like a Chinese knock-off of a Volkswagen.  I hate the Kizashi.

35K is just a number.

Buy the best GTO you can find, and Pocket the rest.

Or buy a GTO and do a convertible conversion.

I have a friend who swears by his GTI and absolutely loved his R32 that he had before that car.

You know what fits all of the requirements except for new? A Porsche 911.

Hah, we are totally different people.  If I have $35K to spend on a car, I'm buying 3 or 4 sub $7K vehicles and keeping the rest for repairs and upkeep.

With a 70 hour work week and no skills, I can't depend on a car that could potentially break down a lot.

Like I said, this is purely a hypothetical situation fellows.  Don't get too excited, I'll likely keep the Jetta.
