Cosby Show was awesome and Bill Cosby was even better than the show.Family Matters was complete crap, and Freash Prince was really good...but Uncle Phil was the worst part of the show.

Should've had him deliver more lines like this

But it wouldn't have fit within the theme of the show.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

I'm not surprised; UPN's demographics, budget and market are different from NBC. At least Bill Cosby had the cred and the crossover dollars.

The only black sitcoms we get here are "What's up, Dad?" and "The Cosby" show. Not a fan of either to be honest (and I am not racist). Maybe they're funnier in English, but I've only seen them in Deutsch which might take the fun out of them.

Did the chocolates arrive yet?  :praise:

"What's up, Dad?" is known as "My Wife and Kids" here in the States. The show ran on ABC. The Wayans family, while not as big as Cosby, have sizable cred in their own right.

No worries, not being a fan of either show doesn't make one a racist  :tounge:

No chocolates yet, though I figure they'll arrive sometime this week.  :ohyeah:

Not from the 90's but I'd throw in George Jefferson as the funniest.

The Fresh Prince has aged really well: still funny after all these years.

Am I just blanking or are the only black sitcoms since My Wife and Kids House of Payne and its spin-off?

280Z Turbo

Traditional sitcoms are being phased out, I think.

People just don't buy into laughtrack humor anymore.

Yes. Unfortunately, Seth MacFarlane is too full of himself to realize that his target demographic was born in the 80's and 90's.

I think his target demographic was born in the 90s.  The late 90s.

Anyway, define best.  Is it "which one is the best dad?" or "which was the funniest character?"

Disney Channel shows don't count. State of Georgia is incredibly awful. Forgot about Are We There Yet, Everyone Hates Chris, and Bernie Mac (though not a fan of any of them).

Somehow I haven't heard of any of the others.

It's painful to watch sitcoms from the 90's, even the good ones from NBC.

I'm just not that crazy about sitcoms in general. I've only enjoyed "The King of Queens" because Kevin James, Jerry Stiller and Leah Remini and the other cast members have such great chemistry. I also think the humor isn't to overdone like in other sitcoms.

"The Big Bang Theory" is also great. Great chemistry amongst the cast, funny stories and intelligent jokes. Perfect. My favorite characters are Sheldon, Amy and Raj. :ohyeah:

I enjoyed Family Matters when I was a kid in the 90's, so I went with Carl Winslow. Uncle Phil is cool and all, but he competes more with the white dads of the time
