Saab had a variable compression ratio engine concept at least 10 years ago.
How'd that system work? I forget. Wasn't it something really goofy, like the head changed shape or something?

How does Nissans chart not account for power loss to the compression stroke - its practically 90% of efficiency losses????

We need a new world takeover.

2017 MITSUBISHI WORLD TAKEOVER?

That gives them a few years to turn the ship.

Wasn't that two stroke as well?

No.

The whole cylinder bank and head moved separate from the lower part of the block (where the crankshaft resides).

Yeah, that was a ridiculous concept.
Variable length connecting rods would have almost made as much sense.

That looks awkward...especially that awful kink in the C pillar chrome.

Laconian

I'm not digging how low the headlights and grille are. The car is quite tall, the slope down that hood is catastrophic.

That front 3/4 view is almost as unflattering as the same view of a CTS coupe.  Blech.

Love the rear haunches doe.

I kinda like that. It's different without being completely obnoxious.

Jesus, it looks so mundane - like an Altima + Accord coupe.

Those cars all look better. Could be lens distortion too. This shot looks decent:

The new 3.0TT is rumored to be 350-375 hp, and it will also find its way into the Q50. It's not a great car but at this point the only way I'll be a turbo is if it's Japanese...

That poor C-Pillar...

Hope there's some serious camera distortion going on in that first photo.  C pillar looks over wrought.  The photo of the rear looks decent.

C pillar looks bad and the chrome trim is dumb but I like it otherwise.

I think it looks great.

Also these photos look like they're shot with a long range telephoto lens, which is distorting the proportions a little bit.

Maybe just lens distortion as others have pointed out, but it looks like it just ate something really sour.

CALL_911

That C-pillar is horrid but the rest is pretty decent. I hope it continues the trend of good looking Infiniti coupes. The 1st gen G coupe still looks great, as does the G37 coupe.

I have warmed up to Q50 looks, including that goofy ass C-pillar. If it has the optional sport wheels it looks pretty sweet (not available with AWD though):

Problem is the Q50 has been a disaster for Infiniti selling at ~40% less volume than the G37. Sure it has a higher price point but I'm sure that sort of drop was not part of the plan. Also, unlike the G37 which had top reliability marks whereas the Q50 has sucked (mostly in infotainment).

SVT666

The Q50 can be mistaken for a Hyundai, and that doesn't sit well with premium buyers.

Raza

The coupe has a very Lexus vibe to it.
