335i...meh.  Don't care for it.
CTS is one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen.
C350 looks like a Honda Accord...and I'd probably have it.
A5 looks great, too slow.

omicron

I'd only get a 335i sedan, G37 sedan, CTS sedan, C350 sedan, A4 sedan........er, there might be a problem here. The 2012 A5 update looks so much better for so few changes, so I'm quite tempted by it, despite the underbonnet discrepancy. The smaller-engined A5s are apparently the sweeter drives, anyway.

You coupe haters are just a bunch of dingleberrys. I'll take the 335, G37, or C350, thank you very much.

That reminds me, why has there been next to no news or discussion on this board about the C-class coupe? Shame, shame on all of you.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

A coupe has to look good enough to be worth the trade off.  Most of these are not.  Although, I'd never buy a CTS sedan, but I'd be all over the coupe.  Gorgeous.

I see a CTS-V coupe in metallic red every time I go to Dibella's.  They park next to a Panamera S, once I got a little pit of puke on the Caddy.  I felt bad.

The CTS is the ugly turd of the bunch.

A5 is the only one that really looks great as a coupe, IMO, but I wouldn't seriously consider getting one over a 3er sedan.

These aren't large cars.

Large enough that they might as well have 4 doors

They are the right size to have coupe variants.  Bigger than that, and I agree....4 doors only.  Two doors offer smaller and fewer blind spots.

CTS. CTS reminds me of many black women I know; arrogant and brash attitude with a fat, high booty.
That's exactly why I wouldn't take the CTS.

335i, no contest.
Yah... as boring as I find the exterior of the 335i to be, just from performance alone it has to be the one. Nothing else comes close in performance, and the G37 is cool but just not as fast.

Truthfully for the $$$ I would get a 335i sedan over all of these.

They are the right size in that it makes sense to produce a Coupe variant, but doesn't make sense to buy one. If that makes sense.

It never really made much objective sense to buy a 2-door over a 4-door of the same model. 99% of the reason you buy a 2-door is because you think it looks better, and I think that applies to each of the models here (Though I've grown to love the CTS's styling from all angles except from directly behind -- I was driving behind one recently, and it was all like, "LOOKIT MAH BUTT!'')

Yeah but unless you're in high school none of your friends/coworkers are ever gonna want to ride back there and you might as well just get a dedicated 2 seater.

So, you should get a Miata over an M3 because the back seats in the M3 are pointless?

No, it's pretty clear that I'm saying that if I got an M3 it would be the 4dr.  If for some reason I didn't want that, I'd get a Corvette, a Boxster, or even a Gayman over a 2dr M3.

Curious that you chose a Miata to illustrate your point.  That you didn't feel you could make your case with an example in the M3's price range tells me deep down you know I'm right.

SVT666

I would get a coupe over the sedan in a few cases purely for esthetics and the blind spot reaskns.  In a lot of 4 door cars the gigantic B-pillar is beside my fucking head and if I want to see anything to my left I have to lean forward.  That is reason enough for me to get the 2 door.

I dunno, call me selfish, but if I have to drive my friends and coworkers around, then they ought to be happy in whatever I'm driving.

Raza

I've always felt like the smaller glasshouse and thicker C pillar led coupes to have greater blindspots than sedans...

But yes, the only reason to buy a coupe over its sedan counterpart is looks.  And for that to work, it has to look better.  And the 3 series just doesn't accomplish that, in my opinion.

I can deal with C pillar blind spots but when the blind spot is right beside my head it's  a deal breaker.

If you spend a lot of time in older cars (meaning pre '76)  you will realize that ALL modern cars have A-pillar blind spots.

The A-pillars weren't too bad into the '80s and early '90s.

Cars today though... whoa man... My car is brutal for its A-pillar blindspots. I've almost been hit a couple times because I just could not see someone coming.
