In the tradition of Toyota taking it's new sports cars racing on the Ring before release, the FT-86 is participating in a Nurburgring endurance event.

Looks like, same subdued looks as before.  7400-7500 RPM redline, 2.0 liters NA (requirement for the class).

SVT666

It looks promising. I think it will look pretty good.

I'm hoping the wing is something specific to the race car.  It's a bit much for a street car.

If you look closely it's pretty much an STi sedan wing.

I'm not liking the details, inside and out.

Basic shape looks nice but the surfaces are far too busy.

I'd still buy one though.

It's like the last gen Celica with the Action Package w/ a makeover.. i'm not feeling it.

Cookie Monster

I'm hoping the Scoob version will be nicer.

That is a very cool looking car.  Let's hope it's actually fun.

68_427

The Subaru version might be more powerful as well.  The engineer said they are trying to bring back the spirit of car such as the AE86, and the handling benchmark was supposedly the Boxster/Cayman.

It's very Japanese, which I think was the intention. Quirky, without being stupid like a Hyundai. I can see little hints of Silvia in there and some GT-R too, which I like. Besides, there will be models below the pictured example - the JDM loves add-ons and pointy bits which don't generally cross the Pacific.

I don't care for the interior, the wheels, or the taillights, but it has a nice looking form overall and there's definitely potential there. Could be fun.

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

Looking at the Modellista website, I feel very jealous. Crown Athlete Supercharged, with 355hp and 367lb-ft?

Yes please.

Man this is great. Remember how you guys were clowning me when I said they should make a VERSION of the Miata w/a roof and 2 extra seats? YEah.

I don't think anybody here actually had a problem with the suggestion of a small, inexpensive, RWD 2+2 coupe.  But the thought of calling the car an MX-5 or Miata would just be wrong.  That's not what a Miata is.  A new MX-3 or MX-6 based on a stretched version of the Miata platform, yeah, that could work.

Clearly that's the Japanese market edition, and those are nearly always done up a little busier than we get.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

The only thing I don't get is it blowing the Miata out of the water and then only getting 3 stars in the handling department.
But I really hope this car turns out to be good.

Want. Would love the subaru version, I'm kinda sad it won't be released at the same time.

Instead of being a fraternal twin, dummies out there will think it's a copycat.
