The fuck you making digs at me for, and you havent driven the car? Its also much slower than the Yaris - that car is 300 lbs lighter, but has 35 fewer HP.

And its wayy worse than anything Toyota makes - the Mirage is a shit car. Its eveb worse than the Versa sedan.

I find that difficult to believe.  NOTHING is worse than the Versa sedan!

I just spent 1400 miles with one...and the Versa sedan is a 3rd world country kind of car (though I got 38mpg HWY, so there's that).

Dont take it personally. You know Accent>Yaris, that is just fax, but I have never seen this Miarage in person. It has m interest, so I want to see how shitty it really is.

The Mirage is also a car made in and for the "third world" markets............. in Europe, Nissan put a toe in the water with the latest Micra which is designed according to the same principles and priorities and got slated. Luckily for them, they have a range of other cars to offer, which is why they are now trying to position the second generation Note as a Fiesta rival whereas the first one was seen as rival to the Modus/C3 Picasso/Fiat Idea etc. Sadly for Mitsubishi, they've got nothing else at this end of their range......... I read that it is not quite as nasty as a Micra, and that it is indeed very economical, so along with a low purchase price, it has a couple of reasons why some people (unlikely to be anyone on here or any other car forum, though!) might just consider it.

I consider it. You get what you pay for. These days, $13K gets you one very simple, efficient and lightweight car. The lack of good driving dynamics seems to be a trade off for being loaded with convenience features.
I'd rather have a better tuned suspension than automatic climate control, but most people wouldn't.

The car is well equipped, and the 3 cylinder CVT combo actually works pretty well....but the car feels like trash to drive.

Also, my job is letting MT Elantras go for 14K. For $1000 more you get a car thats two classes bigger, faster, and almost as fuel economical.

Flag down on the field -- comparing one place's discount price to another's sticker price. $2,000 penalty.

I suppose it's a faulty premise.

However, Spark is a better car for the same price. The Fiesta and Sonic aren't as well equipped, but for 1000 more, you get a car that is worlds more refined....

More money gets you more car. But what if you want less car?

It doesnt get you more car. It gets you better car.

TurboDan

In fairness, a high enough percentage of the U.S. is probably on par with the earning that we traditionally associate with "third world" countries that these cars might move some numbers. In retail, stores like Family Dollar, etc., rely on this same group of people. Why can't car manufacturers accomplish the same thing?

If you build it (cheap), (some) will come...

Eye of the Tiger

The problem is that the Mirages I saw on the local lot had sticker prices over $16K. That is for a bunch of base DE models with the CVT.
For that money, I'll take a Fiesta. Duh.
