1) Jaguar E-Type - simplistic elegance and curvacious lines = timeless and powerful elegant design.

2) MINI Cooper - transverse mounted front engine + FWD and efficient space packaging, a car that also became a symbol of 1960s Europe and Britain.

3) NSU Ro-80 - no explanation needed for those who appreciate H&H...

WINNER: MINI Cooper - just nudges out the NSU Ro-80...
-2018 Mercedes-Benz A250 AMG Line (W177)

I'll have to agree with the Mustang, but here are more honorable mentions:

My pick here would be the '65 Plymouth. It was our family ride back when I was a kid:

Too many great cars in the '60s to choose just 3.  These are a couple I really like...

1963 Pontiac Bonneville...though I like the Catalina and Parisienne equally as well.

1969 Boss 429...the most badass of them all.

1969 Boss 302...my personal favourite.

It might be biased but I don't see how anyone can't put the '64 1/2 Mustang as number one.  It's an American icon and it created a new segment of car.

There is no question that it is the number one car of the decade with respect to popularity and sales.  I had a '66, which was almost identical to the 64.5.  I loved the way it looked and the 289 windsor was a great little engine but, as far as performance, it paled in comparison to the '69 Boss or even the Z28.  Given a choice I would take the Boss hands down.

I'd have to say the 'stang.  That car is timeless and classic.  I love the '67 Cougar, but it's basically the same car as the 'stang.
