Subaru Imprezza WRX STi...(take a breath)...S206

The BRZ sports coupe may be getting all the attention at the Subaru stand at the Tokyo Motor Show, but the automaker also unveiled another little gem at the biennial show ? the Impreza WRX STI S206.

Representing the latest in STI?s line of ?S?series vehicles, the S206 receives a number of styling a performance improvements.

The exterior of the S206 is highlighted by a unique front spoiler, fender-mounted vents, trunk lid spoiler and 19-inch BBS wheels.

Underhood STI engineers have balanced the car?s flat-four engine, tweaked the ECU and fitted a sports exhaust system. The result of those changes nets 315 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque.

In order to keep the shiny side up, the S206 has also been equipped with Bilstein shock absorbers, STI coil springs, a flexible front tower bar and a flexible front draw stiffener.

S206 buyers can also opt for Subaru?s ?NBR Challenger Package?, which adds a carbon roof and a carbon spoiler.

Subaru will limit Impreza WRX STI S206 production to just 300 units, which includes a maximum of 100 cars equipped with the optional NBR Challenge Package. The S206 will be sold exclusively in the Japanese market.

I dream of the Legacy S401 very often.  Sometimes I pretend I'm driving one when I'm in my car.

Then of course there's the S402.

Doesn't mean I have to like it or that they couldn't have done it in a more attractive way.

Its a WRX, not a Ferrari.

If it were a Ferrari, I'd know for sure that they didn't do anything.  Let's not forget that Ferrari is not exactly above fake shit on their cars.  Remember the California?

It is functional.  It relieves the air pressure that builds up in the wheel wells.  Not that it actually will do anything noticeable at speeds that are legal.

I never realized anything about the WRX STi was for doing things at legal speeds.

True, but for it to make a difference, you have to be really flying.

No, they don't.

Ferraris are ugly nowadays anyway, the fake shit just makes them worse.

A lot of this aero is effective probably around 70+mph.  I could use it everyday then.

The vents in the wheel wells won't make a noticeable difference even at that speed.

S204STi

Ah well.  Just another reason to drive faster.
