Your perfect car

The V8 Miata thing is interesting. My idea of perfection would involve an older Miata with a Ford 5.0 drivetrain from the 94 Cobra.

That's the old way of doing it. The new kits use GM LS engines.

My car with a fixed roof and an LS7 would be perfect.

So basically a smaller Z06.

As far as non sporting cars, I think I could really love a 1.3 JTD Fiat Grande Punto.

Before you jump down my throat, it's known for being pretty good to drive, it looks good, and most of all, the economy is great while producing good everyday performance. It's the perfect size for me (not too big, not too small) and I love the way it looks.

The tiny 1.3L diesel makes a very good 90HP (that's respectable for a petrol car, in a diesel 90HP is great) and hits hard with 150 ft/lbs of torque. Mated to a six-speed manual geared (I've read) for freeway economy, I would REALLY like driving this car.

I don't think that's an unusual choice.

Pretty much.

Though my car with an LS7 swapped in and a hard top is close enough. If I'm ever rich enough...

I don't know about you guys but I'd be fearful of an MX-5 with that much power. Perhaps an NC would be ok but I've seen how much metal or lack of the NA and NB have in them.

Nonsense. Spec Miata has taught us that Miatas are puntable, indestructible cars.

Not on there tops. Unless you've got a roll bar. And if you're a real man over 6"4' then a roll bar is a problem. If you're a small child then it's ok.
