Probably not for another year or so.

Moving in June, then need to redo all the finishes in the house first.  New flooring, paint, kitchen, maybe bathrooms.  Then I'll likely have a second garage built to supplement the attached two car.   Then, I'll seriously be in the market.

Those old Bentleys and RRs are nice, but they're cheap for a reason.  They are money pits.  And the people selling the Bentley always have a lot of stuff for sale at what looks like really cheap prices.  I'm sure there is a reason for that as well.   :(

That looks just like mine. Which is what it was purchased for, but has morphed into almost daily driver status until the BMW is back on the road (I drive the Mini only on days that my wife and i commute to work together)
Like a fine Detroit wine, this vehicle has aged to budgetary perfection...

I said MX-5 miata but a pristine 6 pot Z3 falls in that price range as well.

Not sure how I feel about the ZR1 look. Makes it seem kinda poser-ish. Also, FUGLY wheel.

It looks like someone stitched it up...did the airbag deploy?

I?ve driven the car about 2 years since it has received the salvage title. It has been repaired properly with no alignment issues, I never had the intent of selling the car for profit, I had the car repaired as if I was going to be driving it for years.

Runs extremely well no problems mechanically or cosmetically it is in pristine condition.

Driver front airbag deployed, Passenger airbag still ok, Side airbags ok"

Maybe the airbag was replaced but the wheel wasn't?

I once considered a Saab 9-3 convertible, stick shift, as a weekend car.

Now, with Saab going under, I'd probably look elsewhere.

An older Mercedes convertible would be really cool.  I've always loved Mercedes convertibles.  I'd also be open to a classic car, like a '68 Cougar, if I could find one in good enough condition.

Yeah, I was kind of pissed when my brother got one because now it's gonna look like I copied him if I get one, but I've been thinking about it for a long time now.

That's got to be frustrating! I especially want a first generation Boxster S. I like the looks of the first generation Boxster better than the second, and for some reason I am drawn to the shitiness of the interior and such--in my mind, I see it as a bit more "focused" as a sports car.

Of course, whenever I have $20k to blow on a car, there's a chance the newer and uglier Boxster S will be available at that price, in which case I would go for that one because it's better.

Admittedly, this is the reason I wasn't looking at G35 sedans, and hesitant to look at coupes, even though I've wanted one before my brother got his sedan.

QuoteI think convertible prices have finally hit the winter slump too. I saw an S2000 with like 65k miles on it for $14k the other day (though I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't a legit ad).

That doesn't sound too unrealistic. My s2k was worth that much when I traded it with 66k miles in 2007.

The earliest models with glass windows are around 10K now.  They should be a little cheaper, I think.

I dunno about now, but back when I had mine, those were the most desirable ones. They still had the harder-edged character and the 9000-rpm redline, but also had the glass window that wouldn't get cloudy over time. The plastic rear window on mine eventually got cloudy, so I bought a new aftermarket glass-window softtop from a reputable ebay vendor for $350ish, and found a good local auto upholstery shop to install it for $400.

sportyaccordy

The earlier ones were so damn slow on the low cam. I haven't driven one of the newer ones, but they def needed the added low end. If I ever buy an S2K I will convert it to a 2.4L.

For the next couple of months, they're going to be a bit more expensive thanks to the increase in demand (err'body wants a 'vert when springtime comes around).

Yup.  If I do buy a convertible, luckily it won't be until the end of summer.

Only one I quickly found with a stick, but I'd rather have a black one.

I saw one of those today and was immediately reminded how cool they are. Not the most practical, but they just look awesome.

I strongly considered getting one, but then reminded myself of the ever-day practicality and the part that Saturn wasn't going to exist after I bought it.  Those Red Lines are pretty quick, too.

It must take longer to hit down here. Probably a less dramatic slump, too.
