I must say, I do prefer my switchblade/traditional key to any of these fancy keyless start systems.

I kinda thought it a gimmick too but now I really like the smart key. It's convenient/quick/easy not having to dive in pockets to pull out a key, especially WRT the trunk + an armload of groceries.

First full tank - 18.5 mpg. Ha, ha!

Basically the same MPG as me, but with double the power.

Cougs, since you're now a part of the Push Start world, I'm curious if your push start has the same flaw as mine.

Next time you're in it, tell me how you just turn on JUST the electrical of your car.

The Kizashi has to be in neutral, but it can only get into neutral when the car is already on. This seems like a fundamental flaw in push start systems.

In my dad's car, which has a push button start, you just hit the "ENGINE START STOP" button without depressing the brake pedal. You can only start the engine with your foot on the brake.

^^^ This.  Though in a manual, it's the clutch rather than the brake.

Quote from: GoCougs on March 21, 2012, 11:00:25 PM
Yep.

LOL, push button start.  I just get in a car and say "Car, go to X location" and get out in the middle of the street.  I don't even bother to park it, the car just drives off by itself.  Autonomous voice command cars exist.

I'm mistrustful of a lot of gizmos, but I'm a big fan of this one for the same reason.

Oh yes I totally agree. All I do is put my key in my work bag and just go. It's one of the most convenient features ever. No key fumbling. Easy entry. Easy locking. It also makes your car harder to break into no?

Is that even possible? Most systems have a physical ignition behind that button.

A regular key + fob is just as much.

It will still work with a physical key. I test drove a Murano where the key had broken. There's a switch behind the button.

I as well. When I drove my dad's car over the summers, it was convenient to keep the key in my bag and be able to start the engine without locating the key, but the key would get lost in my bag of crap and would take awhile to locate when I needed the house key. With the traditional key, I key tabs on it better.

Better than my last tank! I got about 15 MPG :mask: The oil companies like my lead foot.

Not if there isn't a hole in which to put the key.  ;)

I have a physical key that can unlock my car, but there is no physical ignition switch.

afty

I don't think there is a physical ignition switch in the G. There is a slot in the dash where you can insert the fob if the (fob) battery dies.

Congrats! I'm surprised, honestly, but in a good way. Enjoy it!

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

Well, my dad doesn't have comfort access, so in his car, you still need to put the key in the slot to start the car.

Ugh, just found out my gas cap door doesn't lock like it should. There's a solenoid that pops out to engage the door; gauging by the latch it should come out about an inch, it moves about 1/4" inch. The only aspect of the car I'm really disappointed in is this cheap, crappy gas cap door...

Seriously. For like 5 years I drove a car that would eat an expensive part a month.

I'm not a huge fan of the wheels, but overall a nice choice and certainly more interesting than a Camry.
