Speaking of SAAB.  The medical student I'm on rotation with just had her 2002 Saab 9-3 radiator explode, leaving her stranded at the hospital.

Beds, showers, food, and a change of clothes provided.  Seems like a great place to break down.

Yeah, it must have been the head gasket, or something.

An off day, Nick?  You're usually on top of this shit.

Very low.

Saab as a manufacturer did so many stupid things that raised repair costs on vehicles. They never made generic parts. They made SAAB ONLY parts that you could ONLY buy from Saab. Computer technology that could not be repaired.

When they work, they're great. When they don't (quite often), they're useless and a magnet for stress. I will never recommend a Saab to anyone ever again. The fact they are bankrupt right now speaks volumes.

My opinion?  Terrible.  That's why they don't exist anymore.

Yeah I replaced a radiator. I believe it was shortly before the turbocharger went.

Crazy - I've had 4 Saab's total:
1987 900 - 225,000 before I sold it
1991 900 - 175,000 before I sold it
1997 900 - 130,000 before I sold it
2000 9-3 - 139,000 on it right now and still going

All original turbo's.  I've never known anyone personally who has actually needed a new turbo on their Saab.  Sorry it happened to you!

Ironically nothing electronic ever really broke in that car. But everything mechanical did... sometimes twice. LOL.

Ha, the turbo went randomly one day when I was driving home from buying lunch. No noises, no lights, no nothing. I was at a red light, and when I accelerated after it turned green, black smoke was coming out of the car like crazy and the power was reduced.
