EVO X followed closely by a 3000GT VR4... Neighbor had one back in the day and i remember my jaw dropping everytime it rolled passed

The J2M Raiden was an interceptor, not a dogfighter. It was designed for speed and rate of climb and high altitude performance to intercept the B-29 Superfortresses. According to pilot feedback it was also very maneuvrable and more than a match for the Mustang in the hands of a skilled pilot.
