Hes right. A Jetta is a good car for sure. But an FR-S is way better for an enthusiast, brand included. You write cars off for strange reasons sometimes.

Being picky is why I drive the Jetta.  It's a MkV GTI for $5,000 less.  Well, actually $6,000, but I took $1,000 off because the suspensions are slightly different.

There's always the Cobalt SS for those who aren't picky.

I'm with Rich.  Just gimme the drivetrain.  AWD burnouts FTW

And I really want an SS turbo.  "Bad interior" be damned.

You don't need quotes. It looks shitty. This is fact. Also, it maintains an alarming level of GM-ness.

Its still a Jetta, a car that has a horrible reputation for being an unreliable girls' car.

You drive a fucking YARIS.  You have no room to talk.

The difference is I know my car's reputation, I don't care and stima (at least those that aren't related to quality) doesn't phase me. Saying I won't like a car for trivial reasons such as the badge.

You don't see me praising my Yaris then refusing to
drive the Mini Cooper S for looking a little girly.

I'll say it. This is going to have that Neon SRT effect. Yeah, you're driving what fancy sport package thingy you're driving, but at the end of the day you're still driving a Nissan Juke. Yeah.

A Scion is better for enthusiasts? Enthusiasts of what? Mass-marketed boredom?

......have you seen anything about Toyota's new RWD coupe? Its kind of a big deal....

...and like the Neon and SRT 4, it will bash your face in.

The Juke R is 500,000 and will only have a few copies made.

My parents have a 2006 SS and it feels old and abused after 6 years.  My 2003 SVT Focus still feels almost new in comparison and I drive it much harder than they drive their SS.  It's junk.

Toyota's making an RWD coupe? I thought it was Scion... oh, wait... huh? I'm with Raza. I wouldn't buy a car that's marketed to pimply-faced 17 year olds.

Quote...and like the Neon and SRT 4, it will bash your face in.

I'm not winning any races with a Land Rover. So I really don't care if it's faster than an LR2. But my overall point was, even if it can "bash your face in," you still have to tell girls you meet that you drive a Neon.  ;)

2o6

Why does it matter?

And the Neon was a blast to drive. I had one.

Yea, a Scion FR-S is a better car for an enthusiast than any VW this side of a Golf R.

People are sounding damn near retarded with their slavery to image.

You're the one who's not seeing a car past it's badge. It's badge.

I don't have a problem with the Jetta for what it is: a glorified economy car with a turbo. But for a supposed enthusiast to choose one over a more focused lightweight RWD sport coupe just because of the emblem on the hood? That's just silly.

The point is, why does reputation matter? It's a dumb reason to write off a car.
