Well, I test drove a BRZ yesterday.  Pretty likely I'll be getting rid of the Miata and replacing it with a BRZ Limited with a 6-speed.

Trying to decide on the color.  I'm posting this from my tablet, while waiting for my internet to be hooked up this week.  I'll post a full on review with videos once I have faster internet.  In the mean time, vote on which color you think I should go for!  If you're unfamiliar with what each color looks like, go on Subaru's website and take a look.

According to the articles I've read, the BRZ is better setup than the Scion

I've read that it is less playful at the limit.

I know you've said white makes it look like a rental car: and on a Chevy malibo I agree with you: but on a small sports car I've always liked white. it doesn't say "cheap" to me. It says "no nonsense," and it fits on what I think of as a very no nonsense sports car.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Silica is sand.  I'm guessing it describes the color of whatever metallic is used in the paint.

Basically, it means "sparkly," but not metallic.

Long, long ago, high end paintjobs used ground mother of pearl for that 'pearlescent' effect. Nowadays, they us ground mica. If its flaky enough they call it metallic. so, somewhere between "pearlescent" and "metallic," you have "silica."

Yeah, I keep reading that too. Out of the twins, I would take the FR-S. And the no haggle pricing means it should stay at MSRP and no markups, I suppose.

Why BRZ? Why not FR-S?

Multiple reasons:

1.  Content.  I've been spoiled by my miata.  HID's, keyless entry, and heated seats are a must.

2.  Exterior looks - I like front end a lot better in the BRZ.  Also like the DRLs and the LEDs around the headlights too.  I'm leaning towards WR blue right now too, and you can't get the Scion in that.

3. Interior - The automatic climate controls are so much nicer than the manual ones.  The manual ones feel and look soooooo cheap.  The radio and the trim piece in the Scion look like absolute garbage. Alcantara and leather were much nicer than the cloth seats too.

4.  The scion brand.  When I was looking at the FR-S this weekend, it reaffirmed everything I hate about the Scion brand.  Call me a snob, I don't care.  I don't have any desire to be associated with that brand.  While I was looking at it, the most stereotypical "Scion" couple came back from a test drive and were talking with the salesman.  The guy had an arm sleeve, and the salesman was trying to brag about how he told a cop to back off.  All three of them were unbearable.

5.  Pretty much guaranteed at this point the BRZ will have much higher resale.

I keep forgetting the FRS isn't as well equipped.

All the Scion owners I know are old people.

SVT666

Read the most recent Motor Trend comparo.  The BRZ beat the Scion because the Scion wants to oversteer all the time and the BRZ is more neutral.  Besides who ever gets to drive the cars at the limit anyway?  Who cares if it is more playfull at the limit?

I do. handling at the limit is what Sports cars are all about.
