As stated ad naseum, turbo lag blows and turbos are complicated. BMW was caught between a rock and a hard place to keep pace with the competition, and had no choice to go F/I, so I don't necessarily blame them. At the end of the day however it's a stop-gap compromise motor that plays second fiddle to the VQ; less power, more complicated, turbo issues (lag), and has reliability issues.
1. For someone who likes to loudly proclaim their technical knowledge of all things automotive, you sure don't know your cars very well. Go ahead and Google S54, or, alternatively, Google E46 M3.
2. I assume you are referring to the N54/55 in your above post. I guess that is your personal opinion, but I would rather have a N54/N55 equipped car over a VQ car any day of the week. It sounds better, is smoother, has more usable torque and comparable HP, and is easier to tune. But each to their own I guess
Difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week.

Uh, kindly reference the car-length distances as noted in my previous post.

I'm not sure which post you're referring to. Not that it matters. The G37 splits the difference between the 328i and 335i, so you can't say the G37 smokes the 328i without saying the 335i smokes the G37.

Of course, in reality they're all plenty quick for daily driving and I'd be happy with any of the 3.

Exactly. Internetry is exceedingly existentialist when cordial; transitionally mob-o-rific when less so.

God, this thread is pathetic.

Nice review MexicoCity.  Not a big fan of the new G coupe, I just think its awkward, but its always been a solid car.  A new G should be out soon so we'll see what Nissan does.

All I know is that my G has so much power that when put the hammer down at any speed it strains my neck muscles and it goes like a motherfucker.  A tenth here or there isn't even noticeable in my daily drive.

sportyaccordy

Somehow they really botched the coupe. I was hoping the 2nd gen would get its corners rounded, but instead of rounding the corners off they puffed it up. I really like the sedan though. Somehow I think the interior won't age well though.

Definitely agree the sedan is better looking.  Great cars nonetheless, just wouldn't pay BMW money for one.

Aren't (some of) you the same gyus that kept insisting once that AWD does not improve traction and cornering?

The car MC drove was not AWD. And neither were any of the cars cited for numbers. I think your translator might be broken

Impossible; your car is no faster than 90 hp-deficit'd 328i and would get 'annihilated' by a 335i even though facts and data say otherwise.

No, it means MrH is misunderstanding on purpose and his comment wasn't as funny as he thinks it is.

Seriously?

I drive some seriously fast cars fairly regularly and I've never had neck strain.  Maybe you need your neck checked out!

Also, I didn't know you got a G.  Congrats!

You don't even experience a full G in your car when your accelerate. If that "strains your neck", how the hell do you get out of bed?

I didn't mean that my neck muscles literally get strained.  I just mean you can feel your neck muscles working to keep your head off the headrest.

sportyaccordy

The 3 and G are both nice cars, I think we can all at least agree on that.

Yeah, but one is a couple of car lengths nicer.

This thread aims to finally solve which one.

What does AWD have to do with this thread?

And does AWD help with acceleration? From a dig, yes, from a roll, no. Cornering, it depends, but given the added weight of some systems probably not

I am pretty sure you presented an example in which it didn't and provided stupid reasoning as to why it would. On a 150HP Passat (which I think is what you used as your example) AWD wouldn't help
