I was referring to my decision not to become a dentist 15 years ago.  Hygienists make pretty good money too.  They can make about 80 large working full time.

:wtf:  You can't just decide one day to be a dentist.  That's supposed ot be even harder to get into than med school.

The old saying is one thing dentists and doctors have in common is they all applied to med school ... I srsly doubt it's harder to get into than med school.

Veterinary school is definitely harder to get into than med school.  Pretty sure dentistry school is too

Vet schools at least in Canada are harder to get into because there are so few of them around - in Ontario, I'm pretty sure only ONE university offers a vet program.

But I think by far, the brightest kids go to med school out of the 3 though.

And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high." - Ayrton Senna

What are you saying?  That 15 years ago when I was 20 years old, I couldn't have entered into med school and become a dentist if I wanted to?  You seem to think you know an awful lot about me and my education.

Eye of the Tiger

I think I would never be a dentist, but could surely work for one as a hygenist and take in $33/hr (national avg).

EDIT:  Nevermind, the acceptance rate I found was way too low.  Doesn't seem like there's published numbers, but I've heard it's harder.  Maybe it's just as hard.  Either way, both professions aren't ones you can really look back and say, "hmmm, guess I'll be a dentist.  Seems like a lucrative career."

I already got a message from the trucking company that I applied to last night. They want to hire me.
It's so easy to get a trucking job. There is a reason for that, though. blarfg.

I will call and find out exactly what they have to offer.

It's hard not to spend money on guns when trucking?  :nutty:

No, not guns: just shiny truck parts.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

There is a shortage of drivers so don't be afraid to ask for more than they offer you.

Never hurts to ask for more.  The worst that could happen is they say no.

By the way, what happened to Accent?

You'll never do it with that attitude. Sorry man, but you need a firm boot in the ass. Living paycheck to paycheck on minimum wage is no more living than being on the road paying down debts, building some savings, and providing a cushion to pursue other interests down the line.

If the job is less shitty than his wrenching job, living paycheck to paycheck on minimum wage can be pretty awesome, so long as you can afford rent and stuff.

I can't speak for him, but from what he's said he couldn't pay all of his bills. This is the right move nick, best of luck.

How people are comfortable with doing that is mind blowing to me.  I'd scrape, crawl, and fight to the death to get out of that situation.

mint.com  Seriously, use it.  You need to see if  you're slowly eating away at savings every month, and what's causing it.  Find out your extraneous costs, and tackle that first.
