Going Green and Undercover in South Florida

Palm Beach County SD and Boca Raton PD have always used odd ghost cars. When I was there a few weeks ago I saw someone nabbed on an exit ramp from I-95 by an old-as-dirt Buick with strobes in the grille and a slick top.

Not only is the speeding in that area horrendous with far too many drive offs, the area is extremely drug infested with violent crimes running rampant. I fear for law enforcement agents in this area of Florida in particular and in all similar jurisdictions. Their work is admirable and I notice that those they intend to nab are not people merely going a little too fast, rather those attempting to race their way to South Beach and back and often taking with them souvenirs to sell  :nono:

I hope they verified with 911 that it was an actual cop before opening their window.

sweetness.

And the Military Police minivan on Fort Gordon always got a lot of action...

Good thinking!

Also...

I actually also felt far safer in NYC than when in South FL.

That's what I was thinking, that speeding is not the violation they're looking to interdict.

I learned this firsthand when stopped for no apparent reason aside from driving a friend's smok'n hot (and  not stolen) red Ford Mustang GT with deeply tinted windows. One look at my innocence he merely said "drive carefully on these roads and have a great day..." Still scared sh*tless, I returned the 'stang for my mundane rental. Cannot even remember what that was, but I will always remember my buddy's sweet Mustang.

I have seen a red 2005 Mustang GT, a 1996 SVT Cobra, a 1994 Camaro Z28, a Ford Aerostar, and a GMC Sierra 2500HD crew cab 4x4 with a canopy as ghost cars.

They did.  Turns out it was just Mitt Romney playing cop again!

I would have kept the 'stang regardless.  You weren't doing anything illegal.

No. Nothing illegal whatsoever, just a little intimidated then. Years later and a bit older and wiser I would not stop driving the sexy Mustang.

I guess you wouldn't have handled getting pulled over for something real all that well....

After it happens a few times, you get better at it.... :evildude:

I wouldn't say crime is that prevalent except in West Palm Beach and Riviera Beach, which are both toilets. There's one seedy section of Delray Beach, but if there's a town to "buy into" right now, it's Delray. The place is getting extremely nice.

Speeding is pretty rampant, though. FHP is allowing the locals to supplement them on 95 these days to crack down.

My buddy got pulled by an unmarked white Camaro Z28 in South Carolina...after racing with him.

Isn't that entrapment?

His buddy wasn't forced to race the cop, even if he revved and egged him on. Entrapment would be if the cop pointed his gun at the guy and said "race me or I'll blow your head off," then pulled him over for racing.

Revving your engine at me is the same as pulling a gun and telling me to race or else.
