Everything I'd own would be built by me. Should I make a parts list, instead?

A Suzuki, a Corolla, an old Infiniti, and a minvan.  Man, you dream big.
I don't need much. Would rather have the $$$ for toys and projects. For me a car is fun if its fun, not cause its new + expensive.

Agreed, but a G20 and a Corolla aren't really the pinnacles of fun.  My list isn't overly extravagant, but they're mostly fun cars (I don't know if the Range Rover is fun or just cool, but it is cool).

Unless something bad happens I'll have all 4 cars on my list at the same time one day. Something bad would be having a kid or something.

CJ

I picked 4 pretty dull cars. Sonata 2.0T, V70R, a fucking PACIFICA, and a sweet Suburban. But I have no need for a sports car right now, especially since I can't find something I really want. I like Mustangs with the 4.6, but it's have to be a convertible like ChrisV's car, and they're too expensive.

replace your new Sonata with this used one, and replace your "fucking PACIFICA" with the Mustang I posted. $50k even.

No one ever needs a sports car.

The V70R is at least interesting, I considered one of those instead of the Range Rover.  Everything else you chose sucks.

Well, if his argument is that he doesn't "need" a sports car, he's right.  It's a completely irrational purchase, always.  But that's okay.

I'm buying a new car because it's my $50,000 and not yours.

Sonata 2.0T Limited ($28,500)
Easily found in white with black leather and no nav.

V70R ($4,800)

Chrysler Pacifica ($12,500)

Chevy Suburban ($2,000)

That's way more than I'll ever need, but it's fun to think about.  I'll still have $2200 to fix the little issues on the Suburban and knock the timing belt service out on the Pacifica and V70.

Yeah, I don't even know what to say.  $50k to drop on whatever, and $30k goes to a Sonata...?  Then a Volvo, minivan and SUV?  I thought this was a car enthusiast forum, not an aspiring soccer Mom forum.

I put it like this man. Having a "really cool" car you can't beat on whenever you want is kind of like dating a hot chick you can't go balls deep in too often. You still have to deal with all her shit all the time, but you don't get to reap the benefits. I thought about throwing something like a Cayman S or NSX on the list, but I can't rationalize the costs of tracking them regularly, which is the only way I would seriously consider owning one. If I'm just gonna be driving the car on the street, I might as well get something more optimized for that purpose. And if I feel frisky there's always the bike (which is pretty much cooler than most cars under the price cap).

Plus if wifey's car doesn't count, my project car could be an affordable track car. Hell with the right mods the G20 could be a track car. And the SV is very track friendly, offering more thrills than pretty much anything under the price cap. If I can't go balls deep, and it doesn't make up for lack of fun w/practicality, I don't see the point

Two cars, probably.  Not many new cars in the 50K range sold in this country interest me anymore.  One used sports car and one used FWD daily driver.  Three tops, some cheap SUV or AWD wagon.
