In order to do that we'd need to take a time machine back to like 1993. Saabs have been bombs since the NG900. And I say that as a former NG900 owner.

Interesting.  I really haven't heard any horror stories about the NG900.  My brother's 1998 900S 2.0T was as bulletproof as a car could be.  He'd still be driving it today if some idiot hadn't crashed into it.

I know a couple guys with newer 9-3s (mid 2000s, not the one with the terrible nose), and whatever small niggles they may come with, they absolutely love them.

No, really, I haven't.  Then again, my brother was the only person I knew who had one.  And his was great!

Those cars actually weren't as bad as the original NG900s, even though it was the exact same car with a slightly different grille. I think the issue was that by the time they had the 10 million bugs worked out of the NG900s by way of the 9-3, it was time for the Epsilon platform 9-3 to come out.

Don't get me wrong, I loved driving my NG900 and it was an awesome driver's car in just about every way. It handled essentially every bit as well as an RWD BMW and it was a blast in sport mode. But it left me stranded often, there was ALWAYS something wrong, and just about every major component had been replaced by the time the engine finally ate itself. Even the damn turbo shit the bed one day and had to be replaced. It was an absolute disaster of a car.

I wanted one extremely bad before I bought my first car.
