Your next car?

Looking at a car for my wife at the moment. We haven't nailed down exactly what she wants yet. Likely used, spending up to 15k. She prefers a Civic or a Toyota Matrix. I'd like something a bit larger, but her only being 5'1 , car size is a concern for her.

Six years for my WRX. I'm planning on driving it indefinitely.

Yeah, nothing on the horizon that's a worth Z4 replacement either, except another Z4 of the same generation with a more powerful engine.

The combination of performance and capability isn't really exceeded by much right now, not that I could afford anything else anyway.  Unless I someday make enough to snatch an S4 Avant, I don't see myself buying another car.

My next car could be one of several different cars.  I'm all over the place, but it could be a used BMW 335i Coupe, 2011 Mustang GT, Audi S5, or Cadillac CTS-V Wagon.  No matter what I get though, it will be a car I keep for a very very long time.
I will add the Jaguar XF Supercharged to that list.  A 470 hp supercharged V8 is hard to ignore.

XF Supercharged is a ridiculous car...not to mention that there's still the 83K XFR and the 99K XFR-S above it.  Hell, even a midlevel XF 3.0 has 340 horsepower.

Yup.  The XFR is holding it's value pretty well, but the XF Supercharged is somewhat affordable now on the used market.

Why? Because it's annoying.  Go into Tapatalk settings and turn off Signature.  It's easy.

I thought I could just drop a turbo on any Sportage since the engines are sent from Japan.

VW GTD. Very sensible, and nearly as much room as your 5.

I'm really talking about diesel as a concept.

What do you think are the pros/cons of having a diesel?  What are the major risks?

Laconian

I don't think there are many risks inherent to diesels as a whole, besides diesel availability. The engines tend to fare better over time than gas engines. Whether or not Audi biffed it on this is another matter, but I know a lot of happy VWAG diesel owners.

The primary benefit of diesel in passenger vehicles is great fuel economy. Given that you only drive to and from the bus stop, and you're loaded, fuel economy is probably not high up on your list of priorities.

They also provide great torque down low, which if you like feeling the sensation of acceleration, can be a really good thing.
