Lots of rust spots on that thing. All around the hood, under tail lights. And it's too expensive and AWD. Early 4Matic cars are trouble.

It's a 20 year old car. That spots and mechanical issues aren't unexpected.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

I want you to experience the pit of despair that is a dive bar in Battle Creek.

There's a brewpub near the Amtrak station that's not bad.

Nope, it's still a Buick

Who was it that was looking for a manual wagon?

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2559562

That would be me or Raza I think.  Or maybe FBC

Looking at that guy's photostream, that used to be "stanced" to all hell.  Fuck that.  I wouldn't trust the diffs or halfshafts after rolling around broken for so long.

Half shafts, maybe, though a bad halfshaft would make itself known immediately on a test drive.

Diff, not so sure lowering would do any slow damage... if it hit something it would prob disintegrate immediately.

Plus it's easy to look under the car and see if anything has the tell tale asphalt scrapings. It's probably fine.

That doesn't seem too bad a price.  A lot of these forum for sale postings are "Impreza 2.5, Lowered suspension, big wheels, 175,000 miles, $35,000 firm.  I know what it's worth so don't lowball me."

Why the hell would you buy the Outback version of the Legacy to slam it that low?  Why not start with a regular Legacy wagon?

And then why would you buy a regular Legacy wagon and slam it like that?  Why would you ever do that to any car?

The only reason to buy an Outback over a regular wagon is to get the added, SUV-like ride height and ground clearance.  And, IIRC, they cost more than the regular wagon.  If you're just going to slam the thing, why would you start with the more expensive version with extra ride height?

Well, the Merc is a no-go. Guy won't talk to me on price, or show me a video of it running without warning lights on.

But, all is not lost. Got a car anyways, way on the cheap side.
