From the angle in that picture, it looks an awful lot like a Passat.

That's the funniest part.

Getting out dragged by a huge boat while in a GT3RS would be such a mindfuck.

Darn fast. But not fast enough to outrun that ugly front end.

I actually like the front end; think the rear is what's hideous.

I love visiting the Audi dealer I got my A4 from when I go in to get service done...I go in the showroom and sit in the A8.  Such a fucking nice car.  The guys let me bring my memory card in and play music in it last time I was in.  The sound system...ermagherrrrrrrrd.

You know what's amazing? last-gen A8s can apparently be had for <$10-15k. Such beautiful cars.

It's fucking fast, but what's the point in a car that big?

Who cares? If you asked "what's the point" about a lot of cars, you'd find there's really no point.

I like cars with gobs of power and everyone here knows that.  I just have a hard time understanding the usefullness in a car this big.

Cars sell on spec sheets.  Think about who will buy these cars.  They'll never see full throttle.  It does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds so they can say it does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.

If I'm rich, I'd like my luxo-barge to carry friends in to be fast.  Why not?

It'd be awesome to give 3 other people a heart attack ripping off a 3.5 sec 0-60.

What's the usefulness of having gobs of power in a car not this big?  Your logic makes no sense.  "This car is big and luxurious, why should it also be fast?"  Why shouldn't it be fast?  If you don't want a car this big this fast...don't buy the S8.  Buy an A8.  It isn't that hard.

I've sat in both.  I've sat in the competitor's too.  If you think this vehicle is outclassed on the interior, you're nuts.

Wait .... are YOU saying that this vehicle (the A8) has better interiours? .... cause that's what I'm also saying

I don't know.  I think I don't like the idea of having that much force in a car that weighs that much and it has to stop or go around a corner.  That much power in a car like a Mustang doesn't bother me as much because I know that it weighs 1400 lbs less than this tank and can both stop and go around the corner at much higher speeds.  I love power, but I just don't love THAT much in a car that also weighs THAT much.  Might not make any sense to you, hell, I'm not even sure it makes sense to me.

"What's truly remarkable is how the S8 drives. There are cars that seem to shrink around you when driven hard and cars that don't; the S8 is the former. Every time you drive this car quickly, you get out and gape at the size of it. It simply shouldn't do what it does. Like the lightening-fast launch down the dragstrip, the S8's handling is directly attributable to its Quattro all-wheel drive system. While the big Audi would plow like a Deere when pushed too hard on the skidpad, it was unflappable on the road. Grip in corners is unshakeable, and the all-wheel drive allows you to roll hard into the throttle early and rocket out. We couldn't screw up a corner bad enough to get understeer on the road; nor were we willing to push it to the extremes necessary to induce a wiggle of oversteer at corner exit that we produced on the figure eight."

According to Motor Trend:

S8: 520hp  GT500: 660hp

Braking Distance (60-0):  2013 Shebly GT500: 101 feet  ...  2013 S8: 107 feet
Figure-eight:  2013 Shebly GT500:  24.3 seconds  ...  2013 S8:  25.1
1/4-mile:  2013 Shelby GT500: 11.6 @ 125.7mph  ...  2013 S8:  11.8 @ 118.3mph

The two are so close performance-wise.  Your argument is so insanely dumb and baseless.

Um, don't change your argument, bub.  You said that a Mustang will go around a corner "at much higher speeds" and brake better because it weighs 1400 pounds less.  I completely proved you wrong.

.8 secs on the figure 8 MT test isn't a little. That's several seconds over a lap so I'd say yes, the Mustang is faster in mosta nything other than a drag race.

Let's get the facts right. The S8 is 800 lbs heavier, not 1400.

I'm not talking about track driving - neither myself or SVT are track drivers.  I'm talking about real streets for real people, in which case the S8 would likely be ahead of a GT500 given its ability to put all of its power to the ground and the AWD handling crappy, inconsistent roads (and their corners) far better than a 650hp RWD-er.

Yes. I guarantee an S8 would feel more solid and reassuring than a live axle, and 600+ hp Mustang,

Pretty much agree with everything giant said. Also, as MrH said, I would think a huge AWD luxury sedan would feel far more solid than a RWD Mustang...
