Are cars better or worse for not being built to last forever anymore?

I do agree that newer cars seem harder to work on in general. I don't think they're any less reliable or less durable though.

I agree. Probably more reliable, but you have to go to the shop for more things now.

Only if they fail.  These far more complicated cars with all electronic shit that is just waiting to go wrong,  are in the shop far less oftern than the most reliable cars of 20 years ago,  never mind 30 or 40 gears ago.
