I don't hate it, doesn't look all that stand out. Perfect for their clientele. Leaked pics.

Oh, and the V6 will likely be dropped.

I know it's a pretty clear evolutionary design, but the profile evolved to look so much like the new Escape.

Now that you've said that, I can no longer unsee it.

I have details...but they're secret.

I was thinking more Mazda CX-5 than Escape.

Looks an awful like the Escape, but that dash is fucked up.

TurboDan

Dash looks terrible. Why so many "layers" of different (probably cheap) plastics? Too busy. The Rav4 has always been one of my least favorite vehicles on the road, not sure why.

I'm glad they're getting rid of the V6. Now maybe Rav4 drivers won't think they're driving sports cars and drive like maniacs cutting people off as much as they did in the past with the V6 models.

A line in a Kanye West verse that always made me laugh: "What you think I rap for? To push a fucking Rav4?"

True .... plus the driver's compartment reminds me of a disabled people bathroom, just in darker colours

I like everything except for the front and rear fascias. The rear fascia has a stupid plate recess. The front fascia seems ill-styled.

Interior looks really solid.

The lower half is a soft skin with an underlying foam with a decorative stitch.  The top pad looks to be the same.  Can't tell what the middle panel piece is (just looks like piano black decorative trim).  Looks great to me

They've made the car significantly more butch on the inside and outside, using straighter lines and less curves.  Front looks better, back looks worse being more generic.  The inside looks to be an improvement with softer appearing panels.

i owned a 2006 model V6 limited in what i came to regard a terrible light shade of green.  i thought it was expensive being just over 30 grand.

pros:  fast.  very fast.  typical good toyota gas mileage.  didn't require premium gas but could easily keep up with premium small suvs like the acura rdx which did require it.  stock limited model's radio was very good (when it worked).

cons:  wasn't that reliable for me (bunch of stuff broke and toyota warranty sucks).  no powertrain issues but had a leak in the sunroof which somehow caused water to get into my battery shorting it out several times before anyone figured out what the issue was, upper compartment glovebox door kept breaking, radio would randomly quit working, and i hate it when sh_t like that happens.  hard cheap plastic everywhere inside.  toyota pulled a gm and cheaped out on a bunch of stuff.  there was a metal pole antennae instead of the antennae being integrated into the window and the car had an engine hood prop rod.  acceleration modulation sucked.  you couldn't smoothly start from a red light;  it was either no go or all go, nothing in between.  bumpy ride which always caused all occupants besides the driver to complain on anything but the smoothest roads and the back seat felt less roomy than most sedans (probably true of most suvs in this size class though).  the gas tank was also small.

my fault.  i guess spending 30 grand made me think i was going to get the ride and interior quality of an avalon except in an suv.  instead i got the ride and interior appointments of a jeep cherokee that had better gas mileage and was fast but without any of the machismo that comes from driving a jeep.

sold the car after only 3 years with 37 thousand miles on the odometer.  being a toyota, i had 10 people call me within 3 days of posting my ad on autotrader.  got 17 for it from a toyota dealer.  apparently v6 models were hard to get.

A lot of cars have actual antennae instead of ones integrated into the glass. The Yaris sedan has an integrated antenna, but the hatch doesn't.

I liked the old RAV4. I tried to get my parents to get one instead of the dreaded Rendezvous.

Most non-luxury cars are like that. And?

My Sienna is the same way- drives me up the wall. I've read most Toyotas are like that- makes them feel "more powerful" to a prospective buyer. Seems really retarded to me.

Evidently, the third row seat option will be going away, along with the V6.  I assume Toyota wants buyers to step up to the bigger (and presumably more profitable) Highlander if they want three rows or a V6.  From a marketing standpoint, this makes perfect sense.  Hopefully, it will also make for a better RAV4, too.  I liked the first two generations but wasn't very keen on the bloated third-gen model.  Let's hope Toyota rediscovers the RAV4's mojo.

very true.  the highlander doesn't actually have a lot more room than the rav4 (at least the last generation highlander) but it is a much better ride, much smoother, and significantly heavier vehicle.  the rav4 is much more zippy.

This interior IMO looks awesome.

No way! Wow! It does! It's like Toyota thought putting a brown leather interior would make it look better. Who woulda thunk?

No it doesn't.  The Escape is slightly better.  It's busy and has some odd shapes, but it at least looks modern.  The RAV4's looks like a dressed up version of something out of the 80s.  Also, it looks nothing like Vader's helmet.  It looks more like the Halo helmet.

NO V6?? Jeezus, that's a major factor in it being set apart from the rest of the mini-ish sport ute field!

No, I think the RAV4 has a nicer interior than the pseudo-spaceship dash of the escape.  It looks like something out of Robotech.

Not to mention the build quality on the new Escape leaves a lot to be desired.  They had some serious gap issues all around the center stack at first.  Not sure if they got that ironed out yet or not, but it looked pretty bad when it first hit production.
