Ha, there are people with 1st-gen CTS-V's reporting the same mpg as me :mask:

And one guy trying to claim that he got 1,000 miles on a tank in his CTS?...

Did winter gas start?

What's the difference between winter gas and regular gas?  It seems like a myth.

Some googling shows summer gas to be more economical due to higher levels of ozone production thanks to higher temperatures.

For the last 8 years I've always gotten better gas mileage in the winter because of the colder temperatures and lessened traffic.

26.5 mpg in the Kizashi - 80% short trips in my neighborhood, 20% jaunts on the freeway.

About 10mpg better than the Trooper, and the Trooper couldn't even get out of its own way.

Shoukdnt engines work worse in the cold due to the fsctthat it takes longer to warm up, so the fuel air mixture is more rich than normal?

I think that the air:fuel ratio should actually lean out to get the engine to warm up faster.

I don't know what it's like for NA engines, but turbos definitely ran better in the cold.  Felt more powerful, more responsive, and got better gas mileage.

Lol!

I need to find some of this stuff.

I've been sitting at about 24-26 mpg lately.  Winter is killing it for me.  In the summer, I was more like 28-30.  I'm moving a bit faster now that I'm more comfortable with the car.  Probably 70% is high way between 55 mph and 95 mph :mask:

That's because when it's colder, air is denser and therefore more oxygen gets forced into the cylinder which = more powaaaa

Yeah, I know why.

I just don't know if it's a similar phenomenon with NA engines.  My friend always complained about running his M3 in cold weather, I always called it turbo weather.

Yes, it's the same phenomenon with naturally aspirated engines. Denser air means more fuel has to be used to keep the fuel-air ratio correct. More fuel and air = more power (and worse fuel economy).
