I drove one last week, and it's quite good. Very quit, very refined, good interior. GM hit the nail on th head with this one.

I got to putz around the lot in one with the 5.3; very very big improvement so far over the existing model.  The interior is vastly better (though the design is questionable, the materials, assembly, and equipment is very good internally); steering effort, feedback, and accuracy are promising; the brake pedal no longer has an inch of free travel before anything occurs; overall a much more car-like experience.  I like it.

The last time I was in Florida a lot of stations were selling it at a discount, I noticed. In New Jersey I've never seen it anywhere.

I also noticed that a lot of other states consider 91 octane premium. Here we (generally) jump from 89 to 93 octane. A few stations here or there sell 91 (and Wawa sells 92, which is odd).

I can only get 91 here, unless I go somewhere near a track, which would be in or near Denver.

91 is pretty much standard for premium in my area. There're a couple places with 93, but I'd rather have ethanol-free 91 than ethanol'd 93.

Everything there is up to 10% ethanol anyway.

It can depend on altitude. In parts of Montana regular is 85.5 octane, mid-grade is 88, and premium is 90. I imagine it's similar in states like Colorado and Wyoming.

Yeah, I saw that; and 1/4 mile at 14.1 sec at 99 mph. Jesus - go hunting for the poser class (328i, A4, IS350, C350 etc.)!

Gotta hand it to GM for keeping the P00Prod dream alive - was a good bet - vastly better solution than the Ford Ecoboost V6 - cheaper, more durable, more power/performance, equivalent or better real-world MPG.

More about budget than anything else.  GM has some INCREDIBLY talented departments.  What they really lack is all in the budgeting and planning stages.

I think their chassis dynamics and braking groups produce some really solid stuff.  They just have a hard time pulling it all together sometimes.

A lot of talent there, and a culture that often stifles that talent.
