This new one is seriously ricey.  And I actually really like the way the current one looks.

Hmmm. Looks like I did indeed jump the gun. Googlism says it's all new but wow, why the hell not make it look like it.

I agree.  Lexus has this brand new styling language and they're using a brand new platform, but they styled it to look like a facelift of the old model with the new style grafted on.

Oh hot damn.  Well done Lexus.  I think it's my favorite interior styling language right now.  The GS F-sport is also awesome.

Not a fan ATM - never cared for the Toyota angled shifter thingy plus the whole center stack is too disharmonious - disparate switchgear + and too many surfaces.

What about "panel gaps?"

I expected....more?

It feels really familiar.  Like a facelift instead of an all-new model.

I was trying to put my finger on it but I think you're right.  The more I look at it the more it feels like they just stuck some terrible JDM bodykit on the old one and called it a day.

Now if only the exterior matched the innards...

The interior looks like a schizo designed it.  Nothing flows and there are way too many surfaces.

TurboDan

Too many surfaces, and I never liked "popup-ish" LCD screens in cars. Should be integrated. But at the same time, it looks a little spartan which suits the IS a bit well. I'm not going to criticize it. I like it, warts and all.

I kinda like the exterior, too. Maybe I like weird JDM bodykits or something.

If I was in the market for a small near-lux car, this would be in contention alongside the ATS and 3er.

I also agree. Those seats look like they will do a good job of holding you too.

The exterior, however, puts it on my no list. It's okay though, I don't think I'll own a Lexus any time soon. They are doing a good job of making their cars fun to drive apparently, or so I've read.

r0tor

That intetior is just plain awesome.  The exterior is interesting.

So is this thing really a fbrzzz underneath or is it a shortened GS?  I have read both
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee No Speed -- 2004 Mazda RX8 6 speed -- 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia All Speed

Catman

They went too far up front.  I too like the interior.

Atomic

I think it will sell very well. Racier looking than most vehicles in its class of sedan. I like a more "understated look" myself, but I think the youth market (with $$$) will embrace it. Lexus has an excellent reliability reputation that will attract those fearful of the complexity of some European makes.

hotrodalex

I literally said "gross" out loud when I saw the taillights.

Interior is nice, like everyone else has said. Only one part that I don't like, but it's not a huge deal.

Madman

Hideous.

I rest my case.

CALL_911

I'm quite skeptical about the whole BRZ deal. I really hope it's true, though. I could see it more likely being based on the GS, if not a thorough makeover of the existing IS.

Not a fan at all of that interior.  Way too much going on, too angular.

The rear end kind of reminds me of a first generation TSX, which isn't a bad thing.

I like the profile, actually. Love how the lights flow into that rocker panel character line.

Oh, and Lexus says it's a cut up GS, not a BRZ.

Raza

Those rear lights are horrendous, but in non-F trim, it looks pretty decent otherwise.

Me too. I like this car a lot in general.

GoCougs

~3.5" is added rear seat leg room. Last I checked, the current IS had THE least legroom of ANY four-door sold in the US, including goofy stuff like the Yaris and Fit.
