Cushy vinyl.

Volkswagen seems to have the best.  I think my Z4 is "leatherette", but while it's durable, it neither looks nor feels like leather.

BMW leatherette sucks ass.  Actually, BMW leather sucks ass too.  That's one of the big reasons I will steer to something else the next time I'm in the market.  I'm really not sure what I would get either because the competition have some drawbacks as well.  The Infiniti Q50, though nice, looks like a more expensive version of a Nissan Altima, and that's not cool.  The Cadillac ATS may be the best car in the class but the trunk is absolutely miniscule at 10 cu.ft. and the styling isn't as daring as the CTS.  The Cadillac CTS is a very nice car but the interior makes more noise than a gymnasium floor, and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class doesn't provide the driving experience I want...and around here are severely overpriced on the used market.

Might have to go bigger next time anyway because by the time we are ready to replace the G37, my kids are going to be getting quite tall.  We're planning on keeping the G until we need something bigger and that will be in about 7 years or so.  My daughter will be 14 at that time and probably closing in on 5'10" and my son will be 11 and probably 5'-8" or so.  He's already just a few small inches shorter than her and the growth charts say he will be 6'-5", so something much bigger will be in order.  Just the size of my kids will most definitely negate any attempt I make at buying a Mustang in the next few years.  I will probably have to wait until they are old enough to drive themselves before I get a Mustang.

if you really wanted one, you could make another visit to Cali to buy one. They're noticably cheaper than a CTS of the same year/mileage.

I guess give the daughter the G as a hand-me-down car, then get a Mustang...

Yeah. but going anywhere as a family would require two cars...besides she already told me she wants to get a Mustang when she turns 16.  Whenever she sees a red convertible Stang she points and says, "That's what I want."

I told her that when she turns 11 she can start babysitting (and get a job at 14 or 15) and start saving.  Whatever she saves by the time she turns 16, I will match it and we will find her a Mustang.  She reminds me of the promise all the time.

Damn. I remember wanting a Vanilla Ice 5.0 Mustang when I was a kid. But even with me putting up (almost) half the price of the car, my parents wouldn't entertain the idea :frown:

And to top it off, she's gonna be an inch taller than me as she enters high school. Sigh. #lifesnotfair

I've always been impressed with the size of the Mustang's trunk.  The opening was always small, but the trunk itself was big enough.

SVT, don't you think you're overestimating the importance of size? Keep in mind you'll probably be travelling less as a family when the kids get older. At least in my family we seldom ever travel in a pack, so we've never had gigantic cars. Never was an issue either, but maybe that's just us. We also aren't big people.

My wife and I are both tall and my kids are going to be monsters.  When I grew up we traveled all the time as a family and I plan on doing the same with my kids, especially since any and all family that we have live a minimum of an hour and a half away up to 4 hours away.  We will definitely travel together less, but we will still be doing it.  Don't forget, this is something I'm not really going to have to worry a lot about for about 7 years.

I'm not giving up this Miata.  3 cars is a little much.  Unless I figure out what career will pay for kids and a 7 car garage.
