Cadillac ELR!!

Two exclamation points because I really like it, even if it did lose a bit between concept and production. The concept was a little lower, had bigger wheels (only slightly) and a slightly longer (visually) wheelbase.

IMO, it makes the CLA look like total trash; this design really emphasizes the HORRIBLE proportions the CLA has; IMO the ELR is just so RIGHT.

And because I like it so much, I KNOW you guys will strongly disagree.

Dear god that beltline is high. And it looks retarded the way it slopes upward so sharply like that. It's at the driver's shoulder!

Love it!  :rastaman:

It's probably one of my favorite American car designs of all time.

Looks like the Power Wheels version of the CTS coupe.

Very true to the concept, which is gorgeous in person. I'll have pics of it tomorrow.

The wheelbase is stumpier (likely a hardpoint they couldn't really change) and the beltline rake is less aggressive (for visibility's sake) but I'm shocked at how true to the concept it is.

I really like it.  Too bad about the powertrain.

J86

cant stand the high beltline and tiny greenhouse.

Colonel Cadillac

Wait a second, does range of "over 300 miles" mean that the car can not travel anymore without recharging the battery, or does can the engine keep it going as long as there is fuel in the tank?

Haven't you ever looked at a Volt and thought "hmm, I'd really like this car if it were harder to see out of, less practical and more expensive!"?

Why didn't they make it a hatchback?  It already looks like one and that tiny trunk opening looks utterly useless.

Because $60k + luxury hybrids sell to the image conscious elite based on style, not practicality. They're not going after middle America with this as a practical family commuter.

It looks fantastic, but it looks like it's supposed to be a high performance car...but it's not.

Vinsanity

As cool as it looks, I can never see myself spending that kind of money on what is essentially the Cadillac of Priuses...

LonghornTX

Looks amazing. But, like others, wish it had a bit more performance. This thing is 4000lbs

I think of this as a sort of "personal luxury coupe" in the vein of an old Eldorado. But instead of the sheer size and ostentatiousness of the thing being the car's main draw it's the fact that it is basically the fanciest Prius you could possibly buy (short of a Tesla or Fisker).

Good point! Maybe I should add it to my thread in the jalopy forum...

It does look like a shrunken CTS coupe.

Am I seeing that this uses a Volt powertrain?

Looks a bit "compressed". I much prefer the size and grandeur of a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado.  :praise:

It's really getting that way.  Modern styling because of crash regs, weight because of crash regs, shit like that makes it less pleasurable to buy a new car.  Plus, new car prices are insane.
