She's not horribly attractive.

I don't understand when people get massive boners over a female in a motorsport just because she's a female.  "omg duuuude that chick on that crotch rocket...so hot!"  Well, no, she's not really attractive at all...she just happens to be on a motorcycle that you don't have.

Subaru's David Higgins won the 100 Acre Wood rally, putting him in the points lead two rallies into the season. Block and L'Estrange both had problems.

Welp...

The trucks just raced on dirt at Eldora and although they looked slow, I thought it was like the second coming of jesus.  I wish I could have gone; I want more trucks/nationwide on dirt!  I miss living near some dirt ovals, and seeing the late models, modifieds, and sprint cars racing.  Kyle Larson is one quick shoe.

On the cup side, not much craziness.  8/9-20th place in points is a good battle.  The gen 6 car still relies too much on aero and the racing is paying the price for it.

Looks like F1 has some tire drama going on.  Hopefully they have it all sorted.  Haven't really kept up on it and due to work, I wasn't able to see the F1 race at Silverstone :^(

Audi is still mowing 'em down in endurance racing.  I can't wait for Porsche to jump in.  The Corvettes are getting beat up out there.  I hope that the C7R is fast when it debuts.

Indycar is having some drama.  I think they are having a difficult time setting/following rules and making the right calls.

I'll be heading to the BTCC race at Snetteron in a few weeks, and this weekend is the Silverstone Classic, and I'll be checking that out on Sunday.  I managed to go see the NASCAR Eurocar series at Brands Hatch, and that was alright.  They had a "classic" series that raced the same weekend in addition to the late model NASCAR cars, and it was a fun sight to see some old detroit muscle cars against some old Euro/Japanese sports cars.

Anyone been to some good races this summer?

Are there any strictly stock production car (only mods being a cage and safety stuff) racing series with more than one manufacturer?

2014 United Sports Car Schedule:

Jan. 25-26: Daytona International Speedway ... The 52nd running of the Rolex 24 will be perhaps the most significant sports car race in the history of North America, as the debut event for the new championship.

March 15 Sebring International Raceway ... The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring fueled by Fresh From Florida – North America's oldest sports car race – will be run for the 62nd time. ... For the first time since 1998, the Daytona and Sebring endurance classics will be part of the same series and under the same sanctioning (IMSA). ... Previously the ALMS' premier event.

April 12 Long Beach ... Longtime ALMS street race again in conjunction with IZOD IndyCar Series. ... Prototype and GT Le Mans classes will compete in one of the largest and most important consumer markets (Southern California) for nearly all TUDOR United SportsCar Championship stakeholders.

May 4 Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca ... Historic Monterey, California circuit considered hallowed ground for sports car racing. ... On both series' schedules this season.

May 31: Detroit Belle Isle ... Also a companion street-race event to IndyCar. ... Will feature the Prototype, Prototype Challenge and GT Daytona classes. ... The Rolex Series has raced at Detroit the last two years; previously, the ALMS was part of the Detroit weekend. The "Motor City" is home to many of the auto manufacturers participating in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship plus numerous supplier partners.

June 29: Watkins Glen International ... The Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen endurance event in Watkins Glen, New York has been a staple on the Rolex Series schedule. ... Event started in 1968 and for many years was part of IMSA's former Camel GT Series.

July 13: Canadian Tire Motorsport Park ... Historic Bowmanville, Ontario circuit – currently amid a massive renovation project – is retained from the ALMS schedule.

July 25: Indianapolis Motor Speedway ... Brickyard Grand Prix will again join the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend for third consecutive year, with Friday-at-dusk finish. ... Previous two years was part of Rolex Series schedule.

Aug. 10: Road America ... Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin track has been on both ALMS and Rolex Series schedules. ... Hosted historic event this season when both series raced there on the same weekend.

Aug. 24: Virginia International Raceway ... Danville, Virginia track has fervent fan following and an ALMS race next month. ... Formerly part of the Rolex Series schedule. ... Event will have a combined GT Le Mans/GT Daytona race and another race featuring the Prototype Challenge class.

Sept. 20: Circuit of The Americas ... Spectacular year-old road racing facility in Austin, Texas hosted the Rolex Series in the spring this season and is hosting the ALMS and FIA World Endurance Championship this weekend.

Oct. 4: Road Atlanta ... The Petit Le Mans, traditional 10-hour or 1,000 mile ALMS season finale at the storied Braselton, Georgia road course. ... Event will retain its status as a link with the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Watched the Singapore GP tonight (we had recorded it, as well as qualifying).  Vettel is untouchably fast as long as his car doesn't break.  Kimi managed to go from 13th in qualifying to 3rd place at the finish of the race, with a pinched nerve in his back... I love watching him race.  Also, apparently he's moving back to Ferrari next year.  Kind of a huge blow to Lotus-Renault, but I'm excited to see how he does in a presumably better car.  That, with the changes to engine rules, makes me very interested in paying close attention to F1.

Any of you degenerates watch MotoGP? Have you seen what this rookie kid Marquez is doing on a motorcycle? It's fucking insane. The season is over points wise unless something crazy happens. I don't think a rookie has won the championship in decades

He sounds familiar... did he run SBK superbike the last few years?

I don't follow the series closely, but I enjoy going to a race or seeing it on TV if it's convenient.  It's so raw

Watching the ALMS VIR race at "work" today:

http://www.alms.com/camera/television-broadcast

Despite being down on power compared to others in the class, and having apparent setup issues, Garcia drove the C6R into 1st, and Magnussen is in 2nd after the driver change.

I love the audacity of parking the car on the main straight.

Also interesting was:

"Kimi get out of the fucking way!"

"Don't shout! Fuck off!"

Nevermind, found out what happened.

Even with cable you'd probably miss most of the action.

FIA's lack of sense of humour not withstanding, no-one can deny that to win not just 4 consecutive World Championships, but to do so still only aged 26 is pretty incredible. Puts Herr Vettel up with the greats - inc the 3 other F1 drivers who have achieved 4 Championships: Fangio, Prost and Schumacher. A select and short list from 73 years.

Most impressive...but I'd give a nod to Adrian Newey as well.  I expect, had Newey stayed with McLaren, Lewis Hamilton would've been collecting some of that hardware.

Absolutely - a great driver cannot win without having a great team and a genius of a chief engineer behind them. And there is no doubt that Newey is an absolute genius.

You know, people give NASCAR a lot of shit for driving in circles and having shitty cars, but at least the races are interesting and there's less bullshit.
