Whatever. Pay the insurance, keep the car, stay in the cult, lie about who you are, and shut up about it.

I am going to assume you're drunk.

Policy renewal is next month.....insurance may go down I will jave three years driving experience.

Then what's the issue?

What??? US insurance is fucked. Land of the free indeed.

The rules vary state to state, but yes, insurance is a huge racket.  As I recall, in PA, driving without insurance means an arrest and your car being confiscated.

Call them and shop around.  I just saved $400+ a year on insurance by switching companies.

My car isn't fucking paid off, and I have a couple issues to address before I could even fucking sell it. Riding wothout insurance is fucking stupid.

Selling my car I don't want to do; its nice and everytjing else is shitty.

Your suggestion would leave me homeless. Lord knows I thought about doing just that.

I think the point of this thread was to sell his car and get something affordable with cheaper insurance so he can move out...

You don't have to be mad because you're wrong and got called out for it.

Of course I'm wrong. Would it keep me hostage? Nope.

Good. You're angry. Now DO SOMETHING.

The lesson in today's meeting is talking about how money and education does not lead to success and striving for either is vanity and ruins relationship with God.

I'm guessing your church doesn't do too well when the ol' collection plate is passed around.

Those are reliable, right?

Please don't subject yourself to that. I've been there. Saabs are always "a good idea at the time" ... and then something goes boom.

In NJ they (generally) won't bring you downtown, but they'll tow the car. Then you have to pay the fine, the cost of the tow, a fee for every day the car was in storage, administrative surcharges and probably a "release fee" to get the car back. If you don't pay all of it, they'll just seize the car and sell it at auction, and if you don't pay the ticket they'll put a warrant out for your arrest – and the next time you get pulled over you'll sit in jail until you pay the fine anyway.

I spend hours upon hours in municipal courts for my job. When they turn on the CCTV feed from town hall to the county jail, most of the people on the other end of the camera were arrested on bench warrants for failure to pay tickets, and most of them will sit in county until a sympathetic judge has mercy on them and springs them, or until they pay the fine.

You can drive without insurance in SC for a yearly fee of $400

Yeah, I lost a job last month because of an alleged 2-week gap in car insurance I had in 2007. Guilty until proven innocent, Dont fuck with insurance.

This is exactly why I said what I said on the last page. One bad ticket when you're in a shitty spot financially can very easily lead you on a downward spiral.

No, that's the reasoning they use to get people to give them all their valuables.

I have given it bit more consideration, and I think it's in my favor if I sell my car.

I owe 4800 on my car.

It's worth about 7K.

I have 2K in savings.

Paying off my car e = Im losing value because I can't pay it off quick enough.

With that kind of math, sure. Sell it and buy an $2000 Subaru Legacy wagon. They are one of the cheapest cars on insurance, plus the beauty of AWD and solid build quality. You can fit all your crap in it when you move.

Do you think this is a good idea? I really like my Yaris, but I absolutely hate where I am at right now.

If you can't afford it, you can't afford it. If I could sell my Accent, I would, but I am a bit upside down. I wouldn't have any money left to replace it with a cheap used car.
It is a good idea as long as your car doesn't have a catastrophic mechanical failure that leaves you right back where you don't want to be.

I feel like I can go either way here. My car could be paid off as early as April, if I work hard enough. But of the same token, I feel like all of my options will end in disaster.

I'm going to take a break from the thread (and maybe the SPIN) for a short while. I need some clean air to think.

Didn't realize you had a payment and a high insurance premium.  I'd sell it in your position.

Do you even need the car if you move?  Can you get a place on a transit route that can get you to school and to the grocery store?
